It’s alive and well!  Now to get their “new” snowmobile running in time for Christmas!

I hope you've got those boys' hands and heads involved in these repairs for when the day comes that you aren't available to do it for them. Last night my son suggested to my granddaughter that she come stay with me for a week or so and get a course in tractor maintenance so that she can look after their WH. She was cool to the idea since so far she hasn't been allowed to drive it--she can't reach the pedals yet!

perhaps her first learning experience should be putting extension blocks on the pedals...

I'll suggest that to her Dad!

I've seen a tractor that had an additional pedal closer to a small person's foot range...

@pullstart...?

The block sounds easier (and with a clamp system, maybe more easily installed/removed). I'll give this some thought.

I'm nearly finished installing sliding seat rails on their tractor so that'll also help. The regular seat adjust is about 3" (with bolts)--the slides give 6 ½".

There are both "longs and shorts" among the existing drivers and adjusting the seat was a pain. It is so much safer and more fun when you are the right distance from the controls.

Rylee’s “Screamin’ Jimmy” has an extra closer pedal...

This is so cool, @pullstart, and oh man, could I stir up trouble by showing my granddaughter these pictures! Better be sure this could work before that (and check in with the Dad)!

Thinking out loud, though, my daughter in law is also of very compact stature and if this scheme made her more comfortable driving then maybe...

Complications, though, since I'm looking at a 520-H with the tin next to the footrest and the gear reduction steering.  How did you attach the pivot? It looks like it's the usual ¾" shaft--is it welded through or to the bottom of the frame or is it removable, e.g. with hairpin clips and washers? I'd need to carve a bit out of the footrest. Also have to check where the gear reduction steering's block falls and the lift bits.

Vist to the garage after dinner with a measuring tape is in order

Check this link out, when we did the second pedal.   I cut the 3/4” rod off a C- series frame and welded it on.  With a second floorboard, I could easily make it look stock again.

I do typically have them involved when we’re fixing stuff, but I think their dad is having me get it taken care of as a Christmas gift.  They are good kids, but young Jed seems to find a way to break anything, no matter how heavy duty.

Jed may find his niche as a quality control/quality assurance expert. These folks make a good job out of their knack for finding ways to break stuff!

Staying off topic for a bit longer.  Chatting with my son about the extra pedal idea and he wasn't keen.  Points out that a 520 is a different beast altogether from an 800 -- bigger and a lot more powerful. Very valid points.  His position (which I fully respect) is "If the sliding seat rails you just added put her in reach of the regular pedal, then good--she was almost able to reach last year and she has grown some since then. If not, we wait".

3-1/2 years.  It’s wild it’s been that long!  Today, the block on this GT14 got ventilated.  I will be buying the package back for parts…

I may have another engine somewhere, or something I might be able to piece together at least.

It’s here… what to do what to do?  I lost my ramps in the snowstorm.  They are here somewhere!  I let the snow be my buffer for unloading off a sand pile.

I have a Kohler 16 from Chief that could be used.  Maybe a diesel?  Maybe just part it out?  I don’t know.5FDFF696-947C-45C8-A6C3-A7E5C2CCC778.jpeg.0bb52a448b0234017c7f693789d4f5f9.jpeg
