Pullstart 62,889 #77 Posted May 11, 2020 Threw a little shine on the moldboard before the tractor leaves the shop. I’ll toss some grease on too, as recommended by real plow dogs!
Pullstart 62,889 #78 Posted May 11, 2020 The grease really makes that bare old steel POP! 1

I cut about 1” off the top link, maybe 1-1/2”. the point of the plow is about 6-1/2” off the ground now! 3
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #80 Posted May 11, 2020 Time to throw on some chains or AG’s and get that plow in the ground!!! Make sure that you do a “shop adjust” set to the plow up on blocks like you did with Putt-Putt. You add the dynamic here of being able to “level” the vertical portion of the plow beam by lengthening or shortening the lift links—very cool.
Pullstart 62,889 #81 Posted May 11, 2020 One more one last thing. I found some 1/4” chain cleaning up shop so I split a couple links and twisted ‘em, installed, twisted back and welded ‘em back up. 3
Pullstart 62,889 #82 Posted May 11, 2020 Well, the boys just couldn’t wait until Wednesday night. They’re heading over after dinner for the run down! I am not sure who’s the most excited!
Pullstart 62,889 #83 Posted May 12, 2020 Well, the boys came out and plowed a bit in our garden, then took it home to do their plot! The belt was slipping quite a bit but once they got home, they found that they can push down on the parking brake handle a bit and it is a rocket! Traction is still an issue but their soil is mainly sand and it does ok still with the limited slip. I’m glad they are happy and look forward to seeing it on their older brother’s YouTube channel “Cade’s Cows” in the near future! Thank you again @davidtmercer for hooking me up with this awesome machine! I made them promise that I can be first on the list if they ever sell it 1 1
Pullstart 62,889 #84 Posted May 12, 2020 I’ve been taking video segments and working on putting them together. Some day, I’ll attempt to add different sound bites, etc.
8ntruck 7,004 #85 Posted May 12, 2020 A claw hammer??!!! C'Mon! I know that you know a 3 lb engineer's hammer is the proper tool here. Other than that, not a bad video. Any chance you have a slip roll somewhere in that magic barn of yours? I need to make replacement baffles for the RD deck you sold me last year. Would need to make circles out of 14 at 16 gage sheet about 3" wide.

I actually chipped the claw hammer in a few spots on this stunt, but I got the job done... My FIL told me that he bought a roller last year but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. I’ll have to check on that.
Pullstart 62,889 #87 Posted May 12, 2020 @8ntruck I can get a roller.. it’s just a few miles away.

Pullstart 62,889 #89 Posted May 18, 2020 So the boys took delivery last week and have been having a blast! They coated it with WD40, changed the oil, cleaned the fuel tank and are probably due for another oil change! Unfortunately, they were plowing a bit faster than they should to keep momentum and caught a big root, bending part of the plow. Ohio Steel quit making these 20 years ago according to the nice lady I spoke with in their customer service, so parts are NLA. We might see about making it, but it’s 2”x1/2” solid bar and needs a lateral bend.

Tractorhead 9,064 #91 Posted May 18, 2020 Maybe a hot bending and weld a stiffner onto the Backside to reinforce an fix it. But it seems the Boy‘s keep it species-appropriate attitude. 👍

Tractorhead 9,064 #93 Posted May 18, 2020 You don‘t have autogenous Welder? That should be fine for that purpose. normal Torch may be too Weak, but it‘s worth a Try.
Pullstart 62,889 #94 Posted September 5, 2020 So, Jed bought out his big brother’s share and is now sole owner of the GT-14. He bought a disc the other day, then blew a hydraulic line. It was hose barbed before, and as a quick fix they shortened the line and re-connected it. If our local parts store cannot make a duplicate off one of my old lines, we’ll head to Lowell and Joette for help. Once the line was refitted and the transmission topped off, he broke his new disc! We’ll get it welded up this afternoon and he’ll be back in business! Look at that sad face... 2
Pullstart 62,889 #95 Posted December 14, 2020 The GT-14 is back here for a bit. The starter seems to have cracked a little.
