Thanks in advance! let me know now if you need anything else 1
Pullstart 62,837 #53 Posted May 7, 2020 Thanks Brian! I started playing around and have come up with this! time to get playing with the torch and forge my holes! 2
Pullstart 62,837 #54 Posted May 7, 2020 I could easily weld this thicker and drill a hole, but I’ve always wanted to try forging something molten. It’s almost ready for a 5/8” pin!
Pullstart 62,837 #55 Posted May 8, 2020 I suppose if I continue to forge tools or accessories, I should up my PPE in the shop! I’ve got a couple burns from super hot metal, but I was so close to being done I pressed on!

Pullstart 62,837 #58 Posted May 8, 2020 I was concerned with the corner of the lift bar colliding with the motion control bezel so I did some quick cold forming today. I just grabbed this rusty chunk of iron out of my FIL’s scrap pile a week or two ago, not knowing what I’d use it for. I see it becoming a useful shaping tool for stuff like this!

Pullstart 62,837 #62 Posted May 8, 2020 Rylee helped for a bit. She struggles with control of the MIG gun by herself, but Walker was very encouraging to her as well! He’s so excited to tell his friends that he welded his own hitch!

Tractorhead 9,064 #67 Posted May 8, 2020 Lookin good, also great, you give him the skill and the ability to Weld his first Attachement by himself. That‘s experiences he will capture for life!👍

Pullstart 62,837 #69 Posted May 9, 2020 A pin is machined to fit between the rock shaft and steering fan gear. There’s not a ton of room in there! 2
Pullstart 62,837 #70 Posted May 9, 2020 It lifts! The plow is just 3-1/2” off the ground at full height, but some plows just scrape the ground in the lift position. I can’t wait to see the boys drop this in a furrow so we can do some real testing and tuning! I’m going to paint the lift rod so I can get the bezel and seat back on for them, then prime the hitch and let them paint it! 2

I moved it to the bottom hole to shorten it up at lift and it helped a bit. The top link is a standard “Cat O” from TSC and is as short as it’ll go in stock trim. I have been known to take a few turns off on a lathe for other projects. I can’t see why this would be any different... Thanks Richard!
Tractorhead 9,064 #75 Posted May 9, 2020 The top links are available in different lenghts. maybe a shorter toplink fits better, of if no shorter available, simply cut the edges about 5mm each side. That doesnt‘s give you a weak point at all, but improves the liftheight a bit more. 1
