Peruse my GT14 GT16 Restomod thread, Plenty of photos that should clear up most questions you may have. I think you are describing what I call the rockshaft but probably in error:-) The two shorter parallel fingers attach to the lift cylinder that lifts the deck or plow. It may be that yours never came with hydrailc lift but its more likely that over the years it was removed/plumbed out if its not there. Th longer attached to the ply if I remember correctly.

These also had a attachment bracket that would allow you to add qty 2 Tombstone weights to the front. They had a Sickle Mower and a very elisive Post Hole digging set up that BAERPATH posted way way way back when,,,,And the Plow is larger than normal. that covers some of the unique info on GT14 that I am aware of. They also had a Front End Loader set up. Turf tires that look stock in the 15" size are not made anymore or at least to my knowledge none have come forth recently. The closest seem to be some narrower tires that are more often seen on the 954's. I went with Turf tires but they are Pricy!!

Correction.....AG tires that look like those that were stock are non existent and those that seem to do the job are very narrow in comparison. Turf tires are what I went with on the Restomod.

I love the fact that for a plow mule, a setup like that would give you a lot more adjustments to tune the plow to conditions.  

 

We’ve been using a Brinly version of that A-Frame adapter on Zach’s Blackbeard...

I don’t have a lot of time using it but rest assured—eventually I will.   Kevin, you remember me saying that when I build my 582 plow mule I’m going to install a Cat O.  I will sometimes use my 12” Cat O on that but I will also use this A-Frame with one of my 10” Brinly’s as well.  My goal is to play with the adjustment potential and hopefully an improved quality of furrow cut and cleaness will be the result.  🤞🏻

I would think long and hard before setting up for a tiller.  In addition to the performance issues Aldon mentioned there is a recent posting here about snapping the input shaft of the  hydro pump while using a tiller on a GT 14.  I have seen messed up splines keyways and pulleys but never a broken shaft.  The design seems to be a bit Mickey Mouse.  Tillers are a rough attachment.  watch the idler pulley spring when you hit a root or a big rock.  The cross section of a 3/4 inch input shaft is less than half that of a 1-1/8" engine crank shaft.

I don’t think we’re planning on adding a tiller to this tractor.
 

 I got to thinking though after I ordered a new ignition switch.  I have one from a Briggs powered Craftsman GT that would have probably done the trick!

I answered an add on Craigslist couple of years ago. At the time I was looking to replace the engine on my mothers Craftsman riding mower. Many times I tried giving her different riders and she always refused. The ad was in the free section and all it said was " Free Tractor... you move ".  No photo, just that description. Well I called and the kid said he didnt know much about it. Said it ran and it was a Craftsman. He said he was getting a new one from his parents. I assumed it was junk..... well I pulled into the driveway and I saw this in the driveway and I thought... well that must be the one he got from his parents...... nope that was the free one !! I said whats wrong with it? They said nothing.. The parents were moving out of state and were giving the son their new zero turn. I wanted to pinch myself. I told them I would give them some money they refused. So I took the deck off to get it in the back of my truck. Just when I thought it couldnt get any better the mother came over and asked me... " Would you like a snowblower too ? " The dad wheeled out an Ariens 8hp snowblower. This is were you @pullstart would be proud. I managed to get it all in the back of my truck. Offered up the tractor to my mother... she again refused because here bagger wouldnt fit on it. I sold the GT and bought my mom one exactly like her old one. Hate to say it but those Craftsman GT's are not a bad product. Hope you all dont kick me out for saying that.

I solved the tiller speed problem when my breakerless ignition coil went bad by installing a GM High Energy ignition kit used on pulling Kohler K321 engines. It increased the high idle rpm on the tractor and the tiller is now a beast. It has the 7-1232 tiller and the stabilizer 3 point hitch kit for the tiller. When I got the tractor the input shaft seal on the tiller was leaking,due to a broken input shaft, so when I rebuilt the gearbox on the tiller with new seals and bearings, I had a machine shop make a new input shaft for the tiller out of drill rod. The tiller is now bulletproof in rocky clay soil and will even till new ground to increase the size of my garden in 2 passes.

A member here made a SUPER generous DONATION and sent me a mostly complete 3 point hitch system for the cost of shipping to get these young men out in the field sooner than later.  It was a huge favor that some day I’d like to repay.  
 

It arrived today, along with a magneto type ignition switch from www.iSaveTractors.com 
 

I am in the shop tonight and will see about getting the switch swapped out and tomorrow will work on the hitch system.

so possibly the carb is wrong in a way?  The arm on yours looks like it is behind and lower than the choke shaft?

I removed the carb to play around with the choke shaft.  I’m glad I did!  As well as this runs, I’m surprised it runs at all!

The soon to be owners came over today for some shop class and to learn about their new machine.  They’ve been in isolation for quite some time and we agreed that we were all healthy and safe.  
 

We’re making big progress on the whole thing!  The choke cable is finished, the 3 point is as assembled as we can get it without a parts run and now there may be talk about go-karts for a bit!
