If it has balance gears be sure to remove them they can come out them self's but they make a big broken hole in the side of the block.

Initially it was thought that it would smooth out of the engine. Reduce vibration. After 40 years of practical experience it turns out (probably)...not to be true. Lots of people remove them to prevent them from damaging the engine.

Also good way to see if a motor has been broke into before you have

just be a pair of studs in there

I do take them out the crank should already be balanced enough Well at least hope so lol

Well I ended up spending more time on the gt than planned to today ,but hard to stop when having fun.

Pto side bearing was the noise maker .but hadn't messed anything up yet.

Ended up lapping the valves ,honing the cylinder , installing newish crank bearing

Bagged the wonderful balance gears to use as paper weights ,or melt them next time I'm pouring cast iron

Cylinder is in really good shape for 51 year old

The piston was worn more than I like so ordered one standard again with rings and pin

So got wait on the piston now for the finish up

Looking like should be around another 50 years lol
