Stepney 2,325 #1 Posted April 26, 2020 Father decided it was the day to dethatch the yard. And of course.. doesn't want to stress his poor little JD rider pulling the rake.. So I went out to the shed with a new battery to bring the WorkHorse out.. Front tire looked a little down, so I gave it a nudge.. And it pulled a Hoyt Clagwell. Yep. Spindle broke right then and there. Not when I was snow blowing, plowing, or running on inclines.. Naturally, a spindle off a '68 Charger happens to fit great. And we got the job done after evicting Mickey and Minnie from the shroud. ..Junior hitched a ride in the frame and decided to run amuck in the garage later, had a grand old time trying to catch him.. Tractorhead 9,064 #3 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) I just can image that the axle must had a hidden Material fail inside, all other without massive Front load is out of discussion in my opinion. when i think how i raped my frontaxle in the last Winter with the FEL and it lasts without Bending or break, and it was even a much lighter machine than your‘s, it just can be a material fail. That‘s an issue what can happens. Good that it not happens far away from the Shed while mowing or working. maybe that is a given reason to reweld it and reinforce both or exchange with reinforced ones.
