BBELL94 25 #1 Posted April 23, 2020 Just picked up my 2nd wheel horse. It's a 417-A. It came with a 42" rear discharge deck, and 2 snowblowers. $600 for the whole package. Did I do ok? 5
Bill D 1,907 #2 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) You did well! How many hours on the machine? Also, the GT1642 is one of my favorite machines as well. Welcome to Redsquare! Edited April 24, 2020 by Bill D
SylvanLakeWH 25,490 #3 Posted April 24, 2020 Nice tractor. Any pics of the other one?
BBELL94 25 #4 Posted April 24, 2020 Forgive me, my GT1642 is not in the most eye appealing condition but it was given to me by my father in law and was my first horse. It's currently out of commission with carburetor issues. And the 417A has 850 hours on it. 3 1

BBELL94 25 #6 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) Anyone know why the transmission disengage lever on the 417 rattles like crazy when its engaged? Edited April 24, 2020 by BBELL94
bds1984 1,429 #7 Posted April 24, 2020 I suspect the linkage is worn and/or tension springs are getting weak. My 520H rattles crazy, too, even with a new belt on it.

I had to replace mine last year on my 418-A when I brought it into the stable. https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-8722p/ https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-8693/ https://www.partstree.com/parts/toro-911747/ 14 hours ago, BBELL94 said: Just picked up my 2nd wheel horse. horseyheaven 112 #11 Posted April 24, 2020 My transmission disengage lever rattles like crazy too. I put a new belt on and it still does. However, everything works as it should. Mine has 2000 hours on a working meter. I love the sound of the KT17 Kohler. They seem to be pretty good engines if taken care of. I do a lot of tilling with mine now that I got 2 520s with 60" decks to mow with.

I fixed my handle with a small bolt and two pieces of plastic tubing. [/url } Edited April 24, 2020 by Lee1977

Ike 75 #14 Posted April 25, 2020 I have a 418-a that had a bouncing drive belt idler. I replaced the belt and it smoothed it right out.
BBELL94 25 #15 Posted April 25, 2020 Thanks fellas, I'm going to tear into it soon and see what I can find out. Also need a headlight bezel, a new headlight bulb, and I'm going to try to get the dummy lights working. Other than that she runs great. Fires on the first crank. Needs some paint work too though. BBELL94 25 #16 Posted May 3, 2020 Anyone know why my 417 A would be missing the PTO clutch pad? Will it hurt to not have one?
