It of interest do you have a picture of the pulleys next to the brake pedal? Mine have been "adapted". I cleaned up the job so it didn't look quite as bad but not sure what is supposed to be like.

The cover/belt guard is on mine at the moment... But it should look close to this... With the exception of the lever in the back of this pic should be point towards the ground and an extension spring from that lever to the tractor frame for belt tension.

I'm sure mine goes through the attach a matic, but the whole thing is quite wobbly so had a bolt going up through the footplate to stop it hitting the brake peddle, which had also been removed for more clearance.

 

Both pulleys are also needing replacing as the bearings don't work well.

 

You can zoom in on the attached photo to see it, but will get a better one.

I’m not seeing the spring in any of the pics. I know how it attaches to the eye bolt on the tiller. Where does it run on the tractor? I thought it was a new upper plate for the axle mount but I don’t see it in any of your tractors. Trying to get mine set up for the first time

You can't do any worse than the way mine is set up, the chains at the back have also bent the rear fender - the PO was so rough.

 

Also did anybody spot the nail in my PTO? Must find the correct pin and remove it!

Here are some close ups of the front end.

 

Going to try and adjust this to incorporate the spring and then get rid of the bolt that's fixed to the foot plate.

 

The nail in the PTO is clear in these shots. I found quite a few nails instead of split pins throughout the machine.

I added the spring to mine from the tiller to the wheelhorse, but there was no mounting point on the machine at all, had to make a temporary bracket with a hole in it. It's rough as needed it in a hurry, but will make something a bit more pleasing to the eye soon!

I don't have that odd looking bracket on the gearbox - the one that has three teeth, not sure what that is. My lift wire joins directly to the chain.

Thats not the worst idea, need to brush up on my welding anyway.

 

It looks to give you a little more mechanical advantage, which should make the lift even lighter - and its not that bad now when you consider how much weight is hanging off the back.

I have never used a spring or rear rock shaft only because the tractors I used it on had hydraulic lift. I’d imagine if you have manual lift you’d probably want to have both of them.

Mine works fine without the rockshaft, it's certainly easy enough to lift and the wire/chain leads clear of everything.
