phrog 2 #1 Posted April 21, 2020 My Dad left behind an 1970's era 16 Automatic mower in my barn Trying to figure out what year it was manufactured. Is there a resource where I can look this up by serial/model number? It has a Kohler engine and the model number on the plate is 1 0440 8, and the serial number is 966637. I'm a noobie here, any help would be appreciated. 0
pfrederi 17,741 #2 Posted April 21, 2020 (edited) 1973 "No Name" tractor. Super great tractor!!!! Welcome!!!! Edited April 21, 2020 by pfrederi
ebinmaine 67,635 #3 Posted April 21, 2020 Others will likely confirm. A "16 Automatic" should have been made in 1973. Before that, they had names like Raider, Charger, Electro.. After that, they were a series letter like B C or D.

stegs 325 #12 Posted October 12, 2023 Looking at one here in the next couple days Im assuming these can accept any "tach o matic" attachments In particular a 79360 tall chute snowblower? Looking at buying one pretty much for snowblowing since it has hydro lift/hydro drive.

If it's labeled simply, 16 Automatic, it should be a 1973 model year and it should be nearly identical to a 1974 or newer C160 Automatic. If that's the case then yes, standard tachomatic implements would all work fine.

c-series don 8,724 #18 Posted October 12, 2023 The 1973 autos had the motion lever in between your legs, 74 on had the stick up near the right side of the steering wheel.
stegs 325 #19 Posted October 12, 2023 pic of the tag say 16ks04 So, yes looks like a 1976 wheel horse c-160 not a "auto 16" after all No decal showing a c-160, but the metal tag shows that model number im excited now. !! 1

Not knowing the tractor. But a 73 16 automatic would be exactly the same capable as a c-160. Same engine. Same transmission. Same frame. Same weight.
