Benz302 0 #1 Posted April 21, 2020 I have the double D spindles and crappy sheet metal outer pulleys that are about shot on all of my 36" decks . I checked one of my bigger decks and they have the same size diameter pulley but are good cast iron . Will they work on my 36" deck if they are the double D ? I am concerned about belt alignment , has anyone swapped them before ?
daveoman1966 3,745 #2 Posted April 21, 2020 (edited) I would think the cast iron pulleys will line up correctly with the belt ...as long as it is DD configuration. A word of CAUTION. The cast iron pulleys are VERY EASILY broken so take care in removing them from the donator deck. Don't use a puller of any kind on the cast iron pulley...you WILL chip the outer edges. Better to drive a WOOD wedge under each side of the pulley to make 'tension' and....with the top bolt turned backed-off 2 turns, WHACK that bolt to hopefully POP the pulley up off of the spindle shaft. These can be tough to get off. . Edited April 21, 2020 by daveoman1966
