The "0" in the middle of the model number can have some exceptions. A 701 & 702 did come with electric start. There are also some one off middle numbers like the 1045 which is basically a 1055 with clam shell rear fenders in stead of seat pan / rear fender. The 633 was basically a 603 with a Kohler engine instead of a Tecumseh.

So for my 867, the 8 means 8hp, the 6 means 6 speed, and the 7 is 1967. Am I right on that?

Makeshift exhaust done, fluid change done, got the lift working and deck off, and wired up for push button. Immediately put the old horse out to pasture and she didn’t miss a beat til the clamp on my homemade lift cable slipped. 

3 months ago: “seriously, a horse for every implement?”  Today: “main horse, trail horse, now dedicated disc horse 👍

first experience with a big Kohler and I see the attraction- whatta thumpin torque monster!

Thump thump thump....  this ol girl will probably never see over 1800 haha. Straight pipe with slip in baffle coming tomorrow, then I can let her grunt when the neighbors aren’t home.

Should idle about 1200 RPM.

Full governed throttle at 3600.

I keep my top end about 3300, 3400 but I don't run any implements.

 

If you're under load you need to be sure to have adequate AIR AND OIL FLOW so you really should be above 1/2 throttle. Say 24, 2500 or so.

Yep, like EB said... there’s no oil pump in there so it’s relying on the dipper on the connecting rod to splash/sling the oil around and airflow to cool.

Ok fellas, here we go- hydro issues. Before I post up in the trans forum, what model would be in this? All I know is it’s a Sundstrand and all basics are up to snuff. Maybe with a model number I can do some digging. 

Ol girl won’t climb over a cat turd in reverse, forward is better but won’t turn the tires over.

Weekend update: four beverages and a bic pen spring later, overhauled the acceleration valves and pulled a disc through the garden, she will back up a hill and drive over the garage step like a champ! Check balls were stuck and a small spring missing from one of the valves- the one under the little Allen cap in the big 1 3/16 nut. Bic pen spring was all I had and was apparently a close enough match. 

She even got treated to a bath along with her big brother!

@ebinmaine I ran across a video on youtube of your 1267 running. Beautiful sound! What muffler is that? I gotta tone this 1277 down a bit if I want to enjoy it more often- the khrome werks Harley baffle cuts it way back over the straight stack, but still barks pretty good.

Back in the day I wouldnt give a crap about the neighbors, especially when theres only two and we're out in the country.....but Im a little older now.

I've had that thing set up a couple different ways. I assume you're talking about the stack that actually ended up being put onto the Cinnamon Horse.

 

If that's the case it was a custom-built one by Jim Kemp.

 

if you're looking for something very quiet. Scroll back in my videos until you see the Patriot horse. That's a b80 with a late 70s Cub muffler that was bought off of eBay or Amazon.

They were originally meant to be laying down or diagonal which is why there's a little bracket tab on it. But they make a great little stack!

Yep. That's the one I got through another member but made by Jim Kemp.

 

The one I have has some extra work done to it but I think you'd be quite happy with his standard offering, so to speak.
