JOHN35054 0 #1 Posted April 18, 2020 Guys I've had this 310-8 wheel horse for 3 yrs. Never had to change the belt until it broke. Now I am unsure of the correct size. From what I've seen it is suppose to have 2 belts. But I only have 1 belt and it measures 139ish... does anyone know if that is correct or not.
pfrederi 17,674 #2 Posted April 18, 2020 I think this is your deck. You should ty to find a model # to make sure. Only uses one elt https://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/2253-mower-rotary-37in-sd-1991-1993-05-37sc03-om-ipl-snpdf/
adsm08 2,030 #3 Posted April 18, 2020 That routing diagram shows one large long belt running from the PTO through the mule drive and around all 4 deck pullies, two spindle and two idler by the looks of it. The larger 42" (IIRC) and 46" decks with the three spindles had two belts. One belt ran around the three spindle pullies and the tensioner, the other went from the PTO, through the mule drive, and to a double pulley on the middle spindle. I just dealt with that setup the middle of this week. My one neighbor has a 310-8 with the double belt setup and he got it locked up. Deck picked up a piece of his chain-link fence and locked the center spindle. I pulled his deck off, got the chain link out, sharpened the blades, greased the two outers and told him "Oh, BTW, the bearings in that center spindle are shot (+2" of play at the pulley", give the local Toro dealer a call in the morning". Then I put the deck back on his mower so I didn't have to carry it back to his house. For some reason I was dumb enough to hook it all back up too and he was back about 15 minutes later because he tried to mow like that and it threw the PTO belt almost right away. ( cringe ) for really bad spots if coarse paper or wire brush does not take care of the worst spots followed by finer grits of paper and/or 3M Scotch Brite pads Edited April 19, 2020 by tom2p
