GT-14 Hydro repair/replacement

Recommended Posts

Triple D

I broke the input shaft on the 90-2062 pump last fall and either need a different good pump or a different pump I can use parts from. From what I can tell there were 2 different shafts in the 90 series pumps, a splined shaft and a smooth shaft with a keyway. I need the smooth shaft with key or I would need the double pulley to go with the splined shaft. The shaft and Aluminum housing are junk. Any help would be appreciated.

I may have a replacement aluminum HOUSING, but can't help with the pump SHAFT.

What about the INTERNALS of your pump...  the THRUST washer, CYLINDER, and PISTONS.

Are they also trashed...??  THOSE, I do have good replacements for...

My off-site email is:

daveomanb@windstream.net...   contact me there for further info and pics.

I sent you an email, I'm hoping someone has a pump that was bad but would have a good shaft.

Where did your shaft break?  That is unusual.  If it damage the aluminum housing what about the bearing inside.  as Dave indicated there could be significant other issues inside the pump.

The tiller broke the shaft, the pin fell out of the three point. The tiller bounced about three times before I could disengage the transmission and snapped the shaft clean. I broke the housing while taking it apart out of ignorance. I wasn't worried about finding bearings, I can probably source them all over. I don't think the internals are damaged, but I've been reading the other posts where guys are rebuilding their pumps and will inspect and resurface as needed. The pump was strong before this happened, although a little jumpy when trying to move slow for tilling. If there is anything specific you suspect I'll take any suggestion you can offer.

I appreciate any help,

Don

That is good news.  Unlikely you did any internal damage.  I may have a hydro gear pump housing will check later today.

As long as it is apart you should look at you r slippers if thy are scratched up piece of glass and some various grades of wet dry paper will dress them up. Return them to the same hole in the piston block they cane out of.  Aslo may want to look to teh accelaeration valve springs they are a weak spot and the pounding from the tiller against the tractor may have broken them..

Manual here will guide you on tear down

OK not only do I have a housing but the shaft is in it and looks OK.  90-2046  This was a unit I picked up a long time ago on Ebay ...claimed it came from a "Good working tractor".  That poor tractor must have been towed to the scrap heap.  When i opened it up the slippers were badly scored the base of the piston block had a 1/8' deep score all the way around even the pump body base plate had a gouge too deep to get out.

Yours for shipping if you want it

Looks like pfrederi has your problem solved.  good news..

Had a typo in my email address... it is : daveoman@windstream.net

While you have it apart, and as he suggested, face up the 9 BRASS piston slippers, and the base of the CYLINDER BLOCK.

Have a look too at the THRUST washer as it must also be smooth without nicks.

If your cyl block and pistons are severly damaged beyond repair, I can provide good replacements.

This site is great, I can't say I'll be here often as long as everything is running but I sure appreciate the help.

On a different note, there is an auction around here with at least on Wheel Horse hydro listed. Where would I post so yuou guys can check it out? It's a Hanson auction Group auction in St. Nazianz Wi. Hardware store liquidation.
