My deck has 2200 hours on it and a few holes I patched over time but it looks no where near as nice as your deck. Thanks, I sure didn't expect it to turn out this good, as I mentioned it only was supposed to be a redo, but I kept finding N.O.S. parts and well here it is. cleat 5,809 #77 Posted May 7, 2020 Looking great. Don't forget the anti-size on the nut threads on both ends and pulley inner so you can easily take everything apart next time. Cleat

I am still waiting on the blades and belt so I will get some never seize before proceeding.
"D"- Man 827 #79 Posted May 8, 2020 Belt arrived, and I took Cleats advice added some Anti-seize to the threads.

I will try to get a picture with my spare idler pulley in the position that I think Pete indicated it should be, when I get a chance. lynnmor 7,302 #83 Posted May 9, 2020 I don't know if that added pulley will cause trouble or not. I have learned while building machinery that you always should have considerable wrap around a pulley to prevent slippage and the resulting friction and wear.
peter lena 8,580 #84 Posted May 9, 2020 tom2p, yes those are my pictures of the added idler pulley , and the 6" martin wheels i use on the side corners of the deck , i have this set up on 5 decks ,and it works with no issues. i realise that to others , making a change simply cannot be done. but watching a long unsupported belt flail away , makes no sense to me . thank you for finding the pictures , pete
"D"- Man 827 #85 Posted May 9, 2020 Picture the pulley mounted and the belt routed against it, instead of just laying on top of the belt.
peter lena 8,580 #86 Posted May 9, 2020 in picture above i do not have that belt guard brace, above the top long stretch of belt looking at rear of deck.as my found pictures show above i drilled hole and mounted pulley at center of long unsupported belt bounce area . no high pressure on belt , but enough to stop bounce. btw the deck looks very well done , pete

"D"- Man 827 #88 Posted May 9, 2020 Look what showed up in the post! Thanks Terry, decals look great. I am still waiting on the blades and the right belt guard to show up in the post. I am also working on making end caps for the open areas on the outer side of the belt guards. This would be in order to add the little Wheel Horse head Decal on each one. "D"- Man 827 #89 Posted May 10, 2020 (edited) Had a go at decals, the Belt routing / Height adjustment decal belongs on the left belt cover, but I need to get the end cap welded on and refinished first. I had asked Terry if he could use my initials and 001 for the Serial# Edited May 10, 2020 by "D"- Man 3

"D"- Man 827 #94 Posted May 12, 2020 Didn't spend much time on the right belt guard, but did get the second end cap made. Also pics of the Wheel Horse head decals I want to place on the end caps. This is proving to be a bit of a challenge in that the height of the covers/end caps are not sufficient to accommodate the whole decal. May try to sort of fudge it. "D"- Man 827 #95 Posted May 12, 2020 Received the blades in the post today. Seller listed as high lift but they don't appear to be. If I knew that these were made in China I would have not ordered them. I dropped the end caps and belt covers off at the welder, he was fairly busy so it may be a couple days before they get to them. cleat 5,809 #96 Posted May 12, 2020 I have always bought genuine Wheel Horse blades but so long as they fit properly and are balanced then you should be good.
"D"- Man 827 #97 Posted May 16, 2020 (edited) I have received the covers back from the welder, the end caps needed more weld to, sort of, build up a couple of depression areas just to make them look a bit more square. After removing the paint I refinished them in the Gloss Black, and bolted them on. P.S. the belt routing decal belongs on the left cover, but the paint was only dry to the touch not cured enough that I wanted to take a chance on applying it. Next I have to reattach the carriage.
