formariz 11,987 #1 Posted April 17, 2020 My next door neighbor has now accused me of discrimination against the neighborhood animals since I seem only to build houses and feeders for the birds. He is now demanding a few of these to start making things right. 1 1

oliver2-44 9,691 #7 Posted April 18, 2020 Two years ago those thieving Gray devils completely cleaned off both of my Pecan Trees. They are no longer welcome here. There are way too many in my neighbor hood. I trapped and relocated over twenty of them, and I don't think I made a dent in their population. I at least got two 5 gallon buckets of Pecans, but I probable should have got 6. Sorry for my rant! Did I mention my wife makes great Pecan pies and wonderful Dew Berry pies. 3 1

oliver2-44 9,691 #9 Posted April 18, 2020 @ebinmaine I have to tell a story and you'll get my drift on "Relocation" Some years ago a beaver family built a brush dam just below the outlet structure at one of the companies steam plant cooling lakes. The brush dam was remove several times, with lots of company Enviromental supervision, but the beavers kept building it right back. Finally a State Wildlife expert was contacted and they sent a State Contracted Trapper out. The Trapper efficiently relocated those beavers and they were never seen again. The company Enviromental expert kept emailing me asking where he relocated them too? Each email I answered in a vague way. When the Enviromental expert didn't get the message I finally replied " He relocate them to 30/30 Winchester Lane". 1 2 6
Achto 27,505 #10 Posted April 18, 2020 (edited) Sorry, I'm with @oliver2-44 & @ebinmaine. Those D@*% "tree rats" can find their own food, I'm not feeding them! I had those SOB's take residency in my attic once, they were not easy to evict. I would close a hole up with steel at 7:00am, they would have a new hole chewed along side the patch by 4:00pm. roadapples 6,983 #12 Posted April 18, 2020 (edited) I've had as high as 30 in about a 20x20 square. They get a gallon of sunflower seeds a day... When I beat on the bucket they come from all directions. They know the sound of the dinner bell. Same with the deer. They get a gallon of corn. Had up to 14 at one time.. Several years ago, I had a yard with a couple of pecan trees in it. That's when I earned my Marksman badge with the squirrels. At that time, I had a coworker (the one responsible for getting me interested in hunting, firearms, reloading, etc...). He and I were talking at work one day. When he heard that I was thinning the herd, he asked what I was doing with the squirrels. I said I was throwing them in the trash, of course!! After that, he would drop everything and come by the house when he knew there was fresh squirrel to be had. (I thank GOD that I have never been hungry enough to find out if squirrel was good to eat. If that ever happens, though, squirrel will be the first thing I look for.)

rmaynard 15,428 #22 Posted April 18, 2020 Don't get me wrong. I love animals. I'm not a hunter, but I won't deny anyone that hunts the right to do so. When I was a kid, I shot a squirrel in the hind leg with a BB gun. Poor thing ran around all day on three legs and I felt terrible. However, as I've grown older, I have developed an unmitigated hate for squirrels. Several years ago they got into my engine compartment and did $2500.00 worth of damage with those constantly growing front teeth of theirs. Having said that, the only thing that I would add to this little guys picnic is a glass of antifreeze to wash it all down. 2
