C160 FEL upgrade

Today i made a battery box, the original battery wouldn't fit with the gear reduction. Had to go to a motorcycle battery for the small size. 20200420_121840.jpg.f200992e5de3068f34bb89bfdc0b55db.jpg

Finished hooking up the wires and cables put the hood back on. Mounted the subframe and weight box 20200420_134416.jpg.036c99825111990bf99f614f6f5a35fa.jpg

I think she looks pretty good have a set of 18in v61's ordered for the front rims, i will paint rims linen beige before I mount new tires.

Not sure if I should start a new thread so i will keep on this one. I started work on the FEL today, going to remove and rebuild each cylinder 1 at a time. I took the first one apart, boy was i suprised. The cylinder and piston look good, but the oring on the piston was only half there and that half was broken into 3 peices. Amazing this thing even lifted.20200420_140357.jpg.f94275018fd13f4327ae472554176408.jpg

Will wipe everything down when i put back together. The black pieces are the oring from the piston. I took the orings to a hydraulic shop and he handed me a bag back of new goodies can't wait to start rebuilding. I have one question for those who have rebuilt cylinders before does anyone know where to get these dust wipers? Mine are still pliable but i was wondering about relpacing.20200420_185103.jpg.e9cf834497c4ed53128b1e0c1d0a80f3.jpg

I took the cylinders off this morning, and disassembled and cleaned them, need to get more orings today, the shop i went to gave me the wrong size on a couple of them no big deal should have it back together today.

Heres the cylinders waiting for assembly 20200422_082744.jpg.2f4bfe652d01b407c724d952b5877458.jpg

Of course you know how it goes when you get busy with something, i forgot to take pics of reassembly.  But i assure you all 4 cylinders got new orings and backers20200422_101411.jpg.463ba5ac6b9f7cacc46e251ec5f188fe.jpg20200422_101415.jpg.2d0c22e99c84c09f10e0bf3a9992dda1.jpg20200422_101626.jpg.1b52bceb1cbef88b5b8025c8abbd61c2.jpg

My loader did not have the c clips that most people show in their loader rebuild, mine had a screw on cap with a set screw. The original assembly had some sort of teflon wicked into the cylinder threads kind of like a gm driveshaft  u-joint. So when i screwed the caps back on i applied blue threadlocker so i dont have an issue with vibration.

I have the same tractor and loader. I added trailer hubs, wheels and tires. Tires are 6 ply and hold 70 psi. They improved steering almost as much as the gear reduction...

I put 6 ply trailer tires wheels and hubs on my C-129/180 I sure makes a different in the steering. I did mine about 1990  the only thing I've done since is tighten the spindle nut on each wheel. I just used it fro mowing and vacuum up leafs.

Got the loader put back on yesterday, still have a few finishing touches to do. I used it to lift a 150+ lb rock the bucket never dropped and the belt never squealed  with the new tensioner and gear reduction is amazing!

That looks very nice! Great job on the mechanical rebuild!

Now use it to push that half-metal half-plastic Chevy truck over a cliff :ychain::hide:  Make sure you don't scratch the Harley while you are doing that :D

I have 26x12-12 turfs on mine, but I raised the seat pan 2" to make room for a full size battery..
