Pullstart 62,881 #1 Posted April 15, 2020 Is there anyone with knowledge of a case 210? Is the transmission anything comparable to a garden tractor, or more like a lawn mower? I see it’s a horizontal shaft engine, mounted 90 degrees to what we are used to. I’d like to know how the power gets from the engine to the transmission, etc. are the front axles any good as far as strength to support any additional weight?
WHNJ701 4,165 #2 Posted April 15, 2020 I have a case 220, its an awesome tractor. the case/ingersoll series are very tough and capable machines.
Pullstart 62,881 #3 Posted April 15, 2020 Could you shed light on how the power gets to the trans?
WHNJ701 4,165 #4 Posted April 15, 2020 the 210 is a geared trans and with manual lift, if i remember. I am not 100% sure how that drive system works compared to the 220 the 220 is a hyrdodrive set up. each should have a k241 10hp. I gotta check my manual I think it has 210 info. I do happen to know where there is one sitting. If ya need me to, I could do a "Mafia" tear down on it and post some pics of what's left when I'm done. You thinking on picking up a "Basket Case" Kevin??? The Ingersoll Case's were built in Winneconne WI, not more than 20 miles away from my home. stevebo-(Moderator) 8,330 #6 Posted April 16, 2020 Yup I used to have one too. Solid machine and the cut the deck gave was excellent.

Pullstart 62,881 #8 Posted April 16, 2020 Thanks everyone, there’s one for sale in the area with a blown rod. I’m just considering what could be done with the carcass...
PeacemakerJack 10,738 #9 Posted April 16, 2020 The Case 200 series are stout little machines. They were built for about 4 decades just 10 miles from my house. Interestingly, my first GT happens to be a Case 224 which is now my daughters tractor. this was using it to prep our yard back in 2002. I added the AG’s to it about 5 years ago. My cousin restored a deck for it and here Claudia is cutting with it for the first time following. Hoping that this summer she and Caleb can handle much of the mowing duties mainly for more seat time... I had to do some research though on the 210...it was a unique machine within the Case lineup. Most of the 200 series were hydraulically driven and many of their implements were also powered by the more than ample hydraulic system. My cousin has a 3’ brush hog that is powered by hydraulics and works really well. The 210 was an outsourced gear drive rear end that appears to be a pretty tough setup. My cousin called me on it late yesterday and says that he is aware of guys that run that configuration with a 14-16hp engine in GT pulling. Anyway, it sure seems like a decent little machine with some good parts. For the price, I wouldn’t be afraid to pick it up—whether parting it or building a little beater run around tractor!
WHNJ701 4,165 #10 Posted April 16, 2020 (edited) the 220 one I have has been in my wife's family since the 70s, by far this is the best tractor I have ever used with a snowblower. unfortunately family neglect the snowblower attachment rotted away it's ugly and tough the last real work I did with it was use the plow blade to push back brush piles. I have plans to restore it someday. I think parts are still available/manufacturered through ingersoll up in Maine @ebinmaine Edited April 16, 2020 by jabelman 3

I'm not particularly familiar with the case lineup in general but one of the big wheel sizes is definitely desirable to me.
WHX?? 48,815 #12 Posted April 16, 2020 I recently had custody of a big wheel 4020 with power steering that my nephew wanted me to get running. Onan PPG motor. Is a beast with rear hydraulics. Not real mechanic friendly to fix leaky hoses on tho. This site helped abit. https://casecoltingersoll.com/forum.php

Yes, the company got a little sketchy after they were bought out and reorganized in Maine. Last I had checked you could still order one from them to suit your taste but they are pretty expensive. The good news is that they made a lot of them over the years and like Jim said, there are forums and FB groups that can help a guy out with rare or unusual missing or broken pieces. Great little tractor to restore for sure!

bds1984 1,429 #16 Posted April 17, 2020 I couldn't find a lot of info other than it is a Peerless. Here is the best picture a quick Google search found. Judging by this picture, I'm wondering if the 210's belt is fed through a few pulleys to twist it 90 degrees like some of the last Craftsman II GTs that were horizontal shafts engines but rotated 90 degrees from a what a Wheel Horse is, but with the input shaft on the transmission just like a Wheel Horse. If the price were free or very cheap, I'd consider it.
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,496 #17 Posted April 18, 2020 Looks like a Peerless 2300, which is also used in the John Deere 110/112 and older 200 series.
