Rbertalotto 27 #8 Posted April 13, 2020 Well....no red tractor. It was very rough and once running it started making a terrible noise in the electric clutch. Then we couldn’t get it restarted. Needed more work than I wanted to get into. going to look at a red IH Cub Cadet 782 and an Ingersol 4020......

Al the hydraulics are stuffed up below the dash and prone to leaking lines. Recently had custody of my nephews 4020 with power steering. You need to get at anything on the flywheel side of the Onan PPG20 motor you have to pull the motor. The flywheel side faces the rear and drives the hy pump. Lets just say she was more of a project than I wanted to get into. Edited April 13, 2020 by WHX24
Rbertalotto 27 #10 Posted April 13, 2020 Thank You! Any advise I can get is helpful. So...In John Deere everyone suggests I look for a 318, What model WH should I be looking for that compares? Or, what WH is a very popular model with availability to used models and parts availability? How about that IH Cub Cadet 782 with a plow for $550? Will be looking at it next week but looks pretty good in the pictures. Seller is not sure that engine it has. I know the series 1 engines had problems but the series II are more solid. WHX?? 49,486 #11 Posted April 13, 2020 @Achto can maybe may be comment on the Cubs I know his family has a few. Yes you do want to be carful about which series engine it has.

You will find this same series issue in most tractors that ran the Kohler KT17 - JD 317, CC 682 & 782, WH 417. All of these tractors were good in there own right but the Series I KT 17 just was not a great engine. The Series II KT 17 had an oil pump which greatly increased its reliability.
ebinmaine 68,878 #14 Posted April 13, 2020 . Roy! Couple of great trailer projects there! Too bad you're not a little closer to me. I've got enough parts around here to get you in deep trouble building a Wheelhorse.
