dells68 7,498 #1 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) Ran across this on fleabay. I can’t believe another one has shown up wanting crazy money for a horse. Either we’ve all got a gold mine in our sheds and don’t know it, or these people have been smoking something way too strong! Dang, if this is true, I’ve got well over a $100,000 in horses just sitting in sheds! Seriously, what is leading people to believe their tractors are worth so much? Notice he’ll ship it for $20.95! For that price restoration, shipping, and the rest of the herd should come free! Have I missed another reality or restoration show in tv? Oh, if it’s yours, I don’t mean to offend you, just laughing my tail off!! Edited April 12, 2020 by dells68 5
ebinmaine 67,267 #2 Posted April 12, 2020 Some things come to mind. "Yes honey I'm TRYING to sell the tractor." Or maybe they meant a minimum bid of $50.00?? Oorrrr.... It's an attempt at 'net fraud. Due to the fact that I enjoy messing with uninitiated sales calls and scammers I'd contact them. Also report it to fleabay.

This guy has to be nuts! All of mine together might fetch that as a whole if I was lucky, but I don’t know of any that I’d sell anyway. I think some people watch things like American Restoration where I saw them charge a guy several thousand dollars to restore an old Bantam and then think “I’ve got a fortune setting in the shed.” Sadly, it’s like another member and I were talking one time, seems like there has been a trend in overvaluing things by some folks driving prices up for the rest of us, but his case is ridiculous!
dells68 7,498 #6 Posted April 12, 2020 I Honestly had t looked at the shipping other than what it said at the top of the listing. I just went back and looked at the listing and the following is actually in his description: “Operational 1973 Wheel Horse Tractor 12 HP 8 Speed with deck and snow blade . Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.“. I didn’t know the USPS shipped items that small so cheaply! My sister in law is a mail carrier, I’m going to have to get her to check into their rates for me. I might have to take advantage of their shipping value! 1
Pullstart 62,785 #7 Posted April 12, 2020 It’s probably been sitting for 10 or 15 years too. I’ll bid 5000 nickels 1
ebinmaine 67,267 #8 Posted April 12, 2020 I'm fairly sure the USPS has a 70 lb limit for most packages. Maybe this is one of those "ultra-light" horses??? 1
tunahead72 2,403 #9 Posted April 12, 2020 Weird. This particular tractor is neither a 1973 model, nor is it 12 HP. Even weirder, if you go to eBay and search for "operational 1973 wheel horse tractor", two items show up, both from sellers in Ohio. The first is this one, the second is actually a 1973 no-name 12 HP, starting bid $500 or buy it now for $6500! Funny, no bids yet on either one. 1

It seems you found that near me, here over the Pond this are „regular called“ Prices..😎 Several Dealers here try to get quick Rich with only one Deal. Prices here have sometimes astronomic Values. I‘m seen a GT 14 about half year ago, where i was still interested in, until i see the Price he Call‘s for. Patina isn‘t the fitting Word for, Engine was defect for „just“ 2800€. Sorry, but my beginning interest drops immediately down to zero. I try to contact him to ask what he think what fit‘s that pricerange, the answer i got was, hey this is a perfect Tractor in good shape.. 😂 Technically it is like new.. 😎 Another thing i have found was a Mowerdeck i‘m interested in, a Sidedischarge. The price will be „only 600€“ several parts missing, on Spindle was defect and so on... a closer inspection shows, that was the same Dealer as before. I still think the lost the Grip to reality.
lynnmor 7,302 #13 Posted April 12, 2020 Too many scams out there. Often there are like new Kubotas on Clist for real cheap, always a scam. I'll bet then ones mentioned are trying to get people to ask questions so they can scam them outside of eBay.
Pullstart 62,785 #14 Posted April 13, 2020 I’m thinking of trying this with a tractor that is one of my less desirable to keep around... if it sells I’ll have a frenzy buying up more Wheel Horse stuff! 2
Tractorhead 9,064 #15 Posted April 13, 2020 A little anecdote from my life. Close to my 18 Birthday i was on the Search for my first Car. Where i checked several offers from local Car Dealers i found few interesting Cars, so i decided to take a closer look at them. While i searching arround on the Property on one Car Dealer, i have heard in the back a conversation between two Seller‘s where the elder guided a younger: „ Shure it’s beeing a bit rusty, but you have to show the Customer the benefits of the Car’s, forget to tell them the negative. every day a few idiot‘s get‘s up, you just need one of them“. I leave this place immediately without a Car even there was my Favorite and never do business with them. Sadly it looks this kind of „Seller‘s Wise“ grows more and more... 2

Dang, you fellas up there in the north country have some beautiful older machines for peanuts. Down here in the southeast they were apparently not as popular- theyre not as plentiful, and when they are, youre gonna shell out the same amount for a rolling, deckless chassis as you will for a complete runner up north. Geez, I gave 2 bills for my 654, with a non running, non original 6hp Tekky, hacked up hood, no deck, no attachments, and there wasnt a wear item on her that wasnt 30 years beyond its limit 2 1

He was going to buy it sunday and give me the price im asking but he decided he didn't want the deck and i told him it was a package deal. But if i changed my mind let him know. I think i will lower the price and keep the deck. I will deliver it to. but only if he still want to. we will see. I am a nice guy I love to wheel and deal. I have gave some folks great deals in the past couple years. I sold a 1965 jd 110 original with the original head lights and taillight, seat cover, motor. ran perfect look good for its age for $425. The lady that bought it knew my late dad and it was made the year she was born she still has it and loves it. She was happy and so was i. folks dont need to rip people off. If we want to keep these old pieces of iron going we have to make deals. 2

I have a half decent pile of spare parts. One whole tractor that needs to be redone. Enough parts to build at least 2 more, maybe 3. I was thinking about offering that to the wonderful incredible amazing folks on red square but now that I've seen the inarguable Platinum mine that I am sitting on I'm having second thoughts. Why, I must have at least $675,000 worth of stuff out there!! I mean I would take less. I'm not just some big block of inflexible Stone. I guess.

Goofey 89 #21 Posted April 14, 2020 (edited) Not only on ebay and CL. Here too. I have seen several adds from this guy, and he seems to believe his stuff is worth about double what everyone else would offer it up for. Can't be a good business strategy. Goofey 89 #24 Posted April 15, 2020 Yes. I have seen the last many that has been posted for sale on this forum and others. Also read a lot of the posts discussing value on these things. General consensus seems to be that a fel in good condition is worth about 1500. ranging a bit up and down depending on lots of things. This one looks old and rusty. Not long ago a new looking Quick way was sold on this forum and I believe that was advertised under 2 grand too. So unless there is a grand or two hidden under the seat of that thing, I still think it's a 300$ tractor with a 1200-1500$ fel. Also, I am aware not many like that I speak my mind and that every day is "we dont like goofey day" because of it but really. If it had not been me to dig this up but some other more esteemed forum member you would all have nodded yes. Had it not been a forum member posting it here, but someone on CL or Ebay you would all have laughed your ass off too. This offer is no more respectable than 1500 for a iffy looking round nose or 2000 for a nice looking old machine with deck and disk. IMO that is. Protecting people that overcharge is the same as endorsing exploitation of people who just don't know any better. Not ok. IMO that is too. Sorry for saying it. Now every one will probably hate me even more. I will try to keep my opinions to my self from now on.
c-series don 8,663 #25 Posted April 15, 2020 Ok if that guy gets five grand for that C-161 then I’m going to have to ask around 20 thousand for mine! Dang it, I wasn’t even planning on selling it but I might not have a choice. 1
