'88 or '89 520 Hydro with foot control.   That's the ultimate snow machine.   And a good looking 48" SD deck.      :happy-wavemulticolor:

I’m not even sure what I’m going to do with it, maybe.....

Drive it up to Maine where Eric and Trina will take good care of it.

Always liked the OEM optional foot control, those 520's are a beast in the Snow. Good luck no matter what you decide to do with it.

The hour meter works off the oil pressure switch so leaving the key on will not cause a bad reading.  What's up with the key switch near the front?

That's only on the HC and 1990 and newer swept front axle... The 88&89 had the standard front axle.

88 and 89 didn't  come with the extended front axle.

Love the 520-H, the horse that got me hooked, bought new in 1989still going strong. Hour meter stoped working about fifteen years ago with 770on it, sure it has 2000 plus, have eased up on it last few years now that I have become a collector. Just picked up my sixth today. My wife asked me how many do you need, I told her when I find out I'll let you know.

If you’re referring to the hood someone actually had an automotive style antenna mounted on the hood and it looks like judging by the holes in the hood and fender there was a radio and speakers mounted on it?

Yes Ed, but unfortunately the deck has seen better days. It’s got cancer in all the usual places that a deck gets when not taken care of. However the spindles are nice and quiet so no matter what I’m happy!

Down low on the left side there is something that looks like a switch in front of the engine.  Maybe it’s an antenna base?

That's definitely an antenna base.

Great tractor.  Great to have friends that find deals like that for you.  I need more friends like that.

Anybody else but me notice that the foot pedal is on upside down?

You know something? I was thinking this foot control thing isn’t very comfortable! I had to stretch my foot far forward go to fast and didn’t like it. I’ll switch it around today. While we talking foot control is there a spring or something that holds the motion control lever over from going into the neutral detent ? It goes into neutral and then you have to grab the handle to move it in the desired direction which defeats the purpose!

If it has the type of lever I think it has, then no.  Take the tunnel cover of and take the lever out.  One bolt and spring is all that holds it in.  You will have to bypass the neutral safety switch, or better yet, use a clutch switch from an 8-speed to replace it.  There should be a square hole on the left side near the flag on the brake rod that can be used to mount the switch.  The flag on the brake rod will activate the switch when the brake pedal is pressed.

Thank you Bill, I have flipped the foot pedal and I’m going to remove the rod and see how much I like it. Mower deck is off and mounting a 54” plow blade on it today.
