Big Wind Damage Last Night from the Storm that Went Through!

Recommended Posts

Lane Ranger

We had some very serious high winds last night when the big storm moved through !   Lots of high winds (60 MPH +)    lightening, but not much rain.   We did not have hail but lots of folks east of us did get a bunch.

We are all ok but my cupola and weathervane atop the garage had its last reading!

Wind blew off the cupola and the weathervane!

Weathervane broke on the EAST Marker which was the direction it was headed fastest!

Probably been up on the roof since 1966 and had a nice copper top with lots of PATINA!

Everyone loves Patina!

So  roofer has already been here and gone this am.   Covered the hole in the roof cupola base temporarily and we have ordered a new  cupola.

I have $1000 deductible on my house insurance and so $500 later we will have a new cupola in five days!

Minor damage compared to some others around so I am thankful for that and the box did not hit the vehicles that were both out front!

The Tuul Crib

Lots of wind and rain here last night had P size hail but nothing too serious. It's hard to get back patina when it's been there for years. But looks like the Cupolla can be easily rebuilt. Stepped out the shop

door this morning and had to retreat

and grab a jacket! There was quite a

chill in the air!:occasion-snowman:

That front is heading my way here on the east end of Long Island. Winds are picking up right now with thunderstorms predicted in a few hours. Sorry to hear about the damage Lane, but I guess it could have been worse. It’s not exactly warm here either, still have the wood stove going! Momma likes it warm in the house so need I say more 😂

Razorback

We dodged a bullet here in NW Arkansas yesterday, according to our local weather guesser. He explained about a warm-air "cap" that stayed over our area yesterday, keeping thunderstorms from being able to form. He showed a video of storm clouds trying to form. They would get some altitude, but this warm air "cap" would push them right back down.

All we saw last night was a cold front push through....it was very obvious..... strong winds, but no rain.

Glad to hear most of the damage was minimal and no one has been hurt. There's enough going on right now without this.
