Bob Reed 2 #1 Posted April 8, 2020 I have a 1991 520H, but cannot seem to locate what the proper tiller attachment is for it. Any help would be appreciated

Click on the picture Here is a list of models in the order they were produced. They are all basically the same except for the lift hardware. From 1981 on I think they should be plug and play. I picked up a 71251 for a very good price, and in very good condition mechanically, but the attachment yoke is too narrow. if I can swap out the yoke mine might work. If not, ther search continues. Thanks again.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #4 Posted April 8, 2020 The basic unit is likely the same. Click on the picture Here is an operator manual for your model a year later. Should be the same. Garry
Bob Reed 2 #5 Posted April 4, 2021 Thanks all for the help. Found a tiller that will work, 7-1252 but i'm missing a good picture of the lift cable. Does it need to be re-routed from the mower lift? Kinda fuzzy on the attachment.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,033 #6 Posted April 7, 2021 The rear clevis hitch is lifted the same way. Perhaps this will help Garry
Handy Don 12,163 #7 Posted April 7, 2021 The mower lift and rear lift are distinct and attach to separate arms on the one mid-tractor rock shaft (which is manually or hydraulically actuated). The mower is a chain connected to the hole closest to the shaft on the forward-pointing arm and the rear lift is a cable connected to the hole farthest from the shaft on the downward-pointing arm. The cable to the rear runs through a hole in the plate where the rear transaxle bolts bolts to the frame and then through a tube that traverses the transaxle and ends clamped to the top of the transaxle in the rear between the two sections of the fuel tank. Until the early 90's, the tube was pre-installed on most tractors but if you don't have the tube and clamp vendors on this site can easily fix you up. A visit to their websites to look at rock shafts and lift cables will help you visualize the parts. Out of the tube, the cable normally attaches to the rear rock shaft (also available from vendors on this site) with an adjustable trunnion and the rear implement usually attaches to the rear rock shaft with a chain. The rear rockshaft permits adjusting the leverage and angle of the chain to the implement. Many owners, though, extend the cable directly from the front rock shaft to the implement, if the alignment is satisfactory. The key is to avoid having the lift cable (or chain) rub against the frame, fuel tank, or other stuff. There are a number of threads in the Forum of different solutions. For a tractor used for both mowing and tilling, both linkages can be left on the tractor full time with only the implements themselves being installed/removed as needed.
