RM366 deck

I went to change the two drive belt and ended up tearing the entire deck apart I think I found the bearings that I need to replace. On the attached picture of the shaft that goes between the two blades I remove the nut, gear and bearing.  The nut and gear are on the same sized portion of the shaft and then the shaft gets bigger  for about 1/8 inch then smaller and then bigger again. The bearing was sitting in the smaller section of the shaft and had been mowing fine. The smaller section of the shaftwhere the bearing was sitting seems perfect like it was machined but I don’t think it was. I have new bearings ordered and  I’m not sure what to do.

You need a new shaft, bearing and bearing support. Those bearings seize and lock them selves to that shaft grinding away and then spin in the aluminum support. And you never even hear it do it!

Might be a little tough finding a new one.
Somebody might have a NOS but I'm sure someone has a good used one. You might put an ad up on the classified section see if you can find one.

Yah FINALLY the Cribs has got a good point .... just :ychain: Cribs... '66 vintage deck parts might be a a real search but good things come to those who persevere.  Check with some of our vendors.

Well I've been off for three weeks from work so I don't have a lot of dust in my head. It's a little easier now to think clear!

In the shaft photo:

1) shaft threads

2) smooth bore/ bearing shaft opening

3) cut groove in shaft

4) some sort of hub

5) worn/damaged shaft by old bearing

(In the cut groove #3)

Is this where a snap ring could be placed to keep the bearing from sliding?

I have a couple of those decks that I tore down to rebuild into one solid deck. I will look tonight and see what I have and what kind of shape mine are in. I think I have 2 spares.

Do you happen to have a rear wheel assembly, for height adjustment?
