Proper lifting technique

Recommended Posts

Whew, I thought I was going to see her lifting that big Kohler twin and bolting it to the frame of colossus by herself. I never know what I am in for when I click on @ebinmaine . Good job Trina , nice to be young, and your Mom did not look at all surprised what you just did.

So, you didn't strain yourself holding the camera did you? :confusion-confused:

Can't be too careful these days...

That's because it was the THIRD piece that size she had moved...

No no. I did okay.

I used two hands and proper balance.

I’m not kidding about this, I bent over to pick up my underwear this morning and BOOM! It felt like I got shocked in my lower back or maybe being stabbed by a sword. I had plans to work on my lawn today, but now I’m having trouble just getting around. I’m damn sure not picking up 50lb bags of lime and fertilizer today!!

Oh MAN.

Funny thing is....

I've put my put back out a few times over the years and it's never ever been lifting something heavy.

I once bent down to pick up a PENCIL and could not straighten up for the life of me.

:D

I could say quite a few things specially to bust on you but I think its more appropriate to just tell you to treasure the fact that you have her in your life. I don't personally know her, but besides her physical prowess more importantly is her mindset and determination which is obvious. Looks like you have a fitting partner in life.

I don't care how fit or strong or flexible or young you are , be smart with your back. I moved 2 45 lb refrigerant tanks with handles on Friday and I'm still having issues today.

No doubt at Trina‘s Fitness or even her Power,

but i would suggested, to better move that heavy Things with a FEL.

A Disc prolapse ain‘t be funny as others allready mentioned.

To be able to do lift such heavy things is definitively a good prevention against any Back issues.

To show it once is also ok, but take care of your Trina, she needs her back for the rest of her Live.

👍

I’ve had back issues for better than twenty years. I’m sure operating heavy equipment for thirty years has a lot to do with this. Funny thing is like Eric said it is usually not from lifting something heavy. I’m always careful when lifting anything, except for my underwear this morning!😂

I don't mean to laugh Don but I do enjoy your sense of humor and you are on my list of people I would like to meet before I depart this earth. That being said I first hurt my back working as an apprentice plumber at a milk bottling plant when I was 20 years old and now almost 42 years later I still have those stabbing sword pains you speak of. A lot of it comes from splitting boilers apart to be able to carry each section out of basements piece by piece and of course the 300 to 450 lb cast iron bathtubs up multiple sets of stairs. The only thing I find when I get that type of pain is stretching exercises work quite well you just need to start out easy and go from there. You need to get better and enjoy some seat time on that beautiful WH collection of yours. Just for a laugh my Dad as I believe you are aware of was a Heavy Equipment Operator and the only problem he suffered with regarding his occupation was hemorrhoids and eventually had to have them removed and then suffered more than before the operation, sometimes you just can't win.  Stay healthy my friend.

I probably could not live without a fireplace or wood stove, but by the time you put that piece of firewood in the fire it’s like revenge for me since by that time I probably handled that thing at least half a dozen  times.

Could not have said that one better myself. I have been enjoying my cast iron baseboard heat by just turning the heat on, had enough of the woodstove at this point unless it get's really cold again.

Good advice and much appreciated.

@Tractorhead Steve we can't get an FEL down into the forest.

I've been mulling over making a cable operated winch lift type mechanism to move the biggest pieces. Maybe something that would mount in a trailer hitch?

That's a great way to look at that.

We all (me, Trina and her mom) really enjoy our time in the forest gathering firewood.

Twisted, we are, for sure...

Hey guys, thank you for the kind words! Yes I remember meeting Eric at Stevebo’s and maybe we can all meet there this year. Yesterday I got some good seat time in with the C-161 8 speed and EZ-rake de-thatching the lawn. Today just seat time on the couch resting my back, hopefully tomorrow I can do some light duty chores. My wife snapped a picture yesterday and also took a video but I don’t know how to post videos. Heck I’m lucky I figured out how to post pictures!

It's fairly easy.

Use YouTube.

Post to it, then copy/share to Redsquare.

I figured it out a few years back.

That means you can.
