Pullstart 62,834 #28 Posted April 5, 2020 We hacked up Steve’s muffler to build Rylee’s stack system for Screamin’ Jimmy. Looks like Steve needs a little tubing work! Did you disconnect the battery before welding the pipe sections in place? The rectifier may not like it. Good repurposing of the SBC shorty header - looks a G body style. Bill I want to make the exhaust cool, but usable for mowing for a few hours if needed. The longer the pipe gets, the more it sounds like a mini Harley Davidson an that’s tolerable. Battery has been disconnected indeed and I feel like the last thing the headers were on was a K5 Blazer maybe? Never had a V8 car... The not so black header I think is either Ford or Mopar, it’s got a funky flange inlet that I’ve never seen? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Pullstart 62,834 #39 Posted April 9, 2020 Here is some washer baffle progress. I’ll keep twisting it until it slips into the pipe, then I’ll weld at least 1/2” of seam exposed. Pullstart 62,834 #43 Posted April 9, 2020 I marked the inside of the pipe and ran a pencil grinder in there to clean the rust out. The split in the washer will be located at the bottom of the exhaust to allow any condensation to be pushed through without pooling up. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Essentially the noise travels in a straight direction until it is ricocheted in an opposite direction. Think of a pool table bank shot. Every bend in a system will alter the noise output in some way.
