Tell you guys what these things are heavy! Busted one just getting it on the bench! At one of this years tractor shows the mafia crew is going to have a Christmas in summer where everyone decorates their campers and tractors  with Christmas  lights. I was going to use this to run them. They are only 1500 watts but should do that. Dan @Achto say hook up a milk house heater to load test her! 

Mine has an oil bath air cleaner but the bowl is cracked. I also need the glass for the light mine is broke. 

Anyone know what plug is needed to make up a pigtail for standard outlet? looks to be some kind of old skool twist lock??

I know @Lane Ranger had a one of these gems.

I have had several sickle bar mowers over the years (3 42 inch , two 50’s , the illusion 702 front chain drive cutter bar made for the 702, and the CBR-32 front cutter bar for my RJ) .   These sickle bars are finicky and loaded with parts that wear out with use.   
 

I still have one 50 inch that was made specifically for the 953/1054 tractor with a one inch wider frame than other Wheel Horses.  I sold all the 42’s and another 50 inch made in the 1970’s.  
 

42’s. Are priced around $350 to $500 and sometimes above but condition is always an issue. 

50 inch a little higher than that.   The rj/suburban front CBR -32 bars are increasing in price too.  I bought mine for about $300 seven or eight years ago and still had to put $200 into redoing. 
 

The 701 sickle bar is a shared ownership between Rodney Burger and I that was bought in Florida last year from a collector. 
 

probably would not sell the 701 chain drive sickle for less than $700.  It is very rare.

Don that cover is from an office systems furniture cable rail (part of systems furniture on the bottom that wires and cables go through) that I found to cover this.   However, these sickle bars should have some type of cover over the blades for safety purposes.  If you take one of these to a show you should definitely have one.

 

 A good cover to use is a piece of chain link fencing guard that Little Leagues, school yards and baseball parks use on top of the fence.  You can get in red too!   Trouble is when you go to buy this product you have to buy 80 feet minimum.   One of our Red Square members did sell these for a while but there are a limited number of buyers interested in a cover ( even though he sold them at a very reasonable price).

Well since I really only need about four feet I’ll probably go with your basic foam pool noodle floaty thing! I’m pretty sure they come in red. However I’d like to have a cool metal one like yours. My neighbor has a metal brake that I could make one on but the foam noodle is easier!

I had mine set up to run at about a 45° angle. I mainly used it like that to trim the briars back along the paths.

I'm late to the game here. You'll find out real quick that you don't run them at a high speed. It will shake your teeth out. I always ran just above idle.
