Goldnboy 910 #1 Posted March 21, 2020 What do you guys do to repair the frame where the fuel tank bolts in as shown here broken? Weld/bolt in a new piece of metal?
ZXT 2,401 #2 Posted March 21, 2020 Do you have the broken pieces? I'd stop drill any cracks that are present, and weld the missing ears back on with extra reinforcement. 6
953 nut 55,065 #3 Posted March 22, 2020 I welded a piece of 1/8 X 3" steel to the front of the fender support and bolted it in with a couple extra bolts. 1

As a matter of fact the wobbly seat was the main reason I took my Work Horse apart. One thing lead to another and next thing I know it looked like this! lynnmor 7,302 #5 Posted March 22, 2020 Later models have the mount extend forward to catch two holes on each side. You would need the newer style cross piece and the console cover that has a jog in it to accommodate the extended part.
ronhatch 406 #6 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) C-SERIES DON; Nice job. Love the Blue oval and the red belly too! Edited March 22, 2020 by ronhatch
Lee1977 6,642 #7 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) I have added 1/8" x 1 1/2" flat to both sides but it was on an 8 speed. I know you would have to cut out a space for the drive belt release. I just used the shifter plate bolts to hold it in place. It's worked for six years. Edited March 23, 2020 by Lee1977
Goldnboy 910 #8 Posted March 22, 2020 C-SERIES DON Mine looks like that almost now but no paint. I plan to bolt in a piece of angle iron for support. I removed the bottom dust cover due to the rust raised up and prevented the cam on the brake pedal and motion lever to rotate so the prior owner disassembled it . Can I leave it out permanently I think I will be fine cleaning this area periodically.
c-series don 8,663 #9 Posted March 22, 2020 I would think that you could leave it out however if you’re going to be mowing with it I’d leave it as this will keep debris out. Here’s mine finished.

It would be easy to use a air compressor to blow it out witjh out the dust plate.
