D_Mac 8,593 #11 Posted March 21, 2020 (edited) @squonk my mouth waters when ever I see or smell a Zwiegle's Hot Dog. Everyone should be able to enjoy them. You all need to try a " Garbage Plate " as well. A " plate " is made up with either 2 red or white hot dogs or 2 burgers with or without cheese or you can get one hot and one burger. Then your choice of 2. Either beans, macaroni salad, home fries or french fries. 2 slices of bread on the side. Then its topped with mustard, onions , and hot sauce. The brown sauce is the hot sauce. Made with ground beef and spices. Every hot dog stand around here has its own hot sauce. Yes I said white hot. Zwiegle's makes a white hot dog as well. Its not called a sausage its a white hot or " porker" .. the reds are called red hot or " texas". Nick Tahous or " Nicks" started them but every hot dog and hamburger place around has their own version. Since they cant call them " garbage plates " cause Nicks trade marked that name they are all just called " plates" . In the early years Nicks used to be open 24 hours and was a popular hang out after the bars closed. The garbage plate became very popular. Now " Plates" are all over town and are STILL very popular with the late night crowd but also a nice choice for lunch or dinner.
