Re-lettering a dash panel

Recommended Posts

The dash panel and motion control panel on my GT-14 are in decent shape but someone painted them solid black.  i was looking for some ideas on how to white highlight the raised letters.  found this link in an earlier post but it is dead

.  Any ideas on how to paint the panel letters??

If they are a raised type letter like what's on the C series you could get a white paint marker and using a very careful hand....

You might try sourcing a Testors acrylic paint marker in Gloss White.

OK guys this project is getting handed off to the other half.  My handwriting is terrible and I can't draw a straight line.   and patience is NOT my middle name :P

If I remember correctly I think Mikes RJ did a restoration on a dash panel on here that was quite extensive.

I just looked in a loose leaf binder and found 13 pages of a thread by MikesRJ dated June 27, 2015 in restorations under the title of Raised Letter Dashboard Restoration Technique. If anyone needs a copy of this I could pass one along at the BS in June if needed.

I concur with Ed, I use this brand at work for axles prop shafts and the like. When dry it holds on tight Ive got some prop shafts that spin at 5000 RPM and have had the same paint for 10years of techs grabbing onto them with grease covered hands and spraying them with brake clean all the time. Takes a little work to get them to flow right but when dialed in they work well.

I have found that the best way to remove paint marker is with more paint marker.  Globe on a whole bunch more and it simply wipes away!
