gt14rider 804 #1 Posted March 13, 2020 Implement clutches getting pretty worn so made up some new parts and put in some brass bushings, will put a couple grease fittings in pedal, have to get a # 1 drill for 1/4 - 28 tap. Also making a new pulley idler arm ass'y. 1

Pullstart 63,201 #3 Posted March 13, 2020 Awesome work! I didn’t recall a #1 bit for a 1/4-20 so I checked a chart. It looks like a #3 or 7/32 would do the trick?
gt14rider 804 #4 Posted March 13, 2020 My drill chart calls for #3 for 75% thread for aluminium, brass, plastic. #1 for 50% thread for steel, stainless or iron.
peter lena 8,876 #5 Posted March 13, 2020 gt14rider , nice work on those pieces, on a number of movement points , clutch rod , pto , plow lever rod , i have added , heim joints , using a threaded rod as the mount point. they totally take out the wear / play issue . no matter what i encounter with a horse issue , i always think of it as an opportunity to make it better. no offence to anyone on this , i just want to make problems go away , pete
peter lena 8,876 #6 Posted March 13, 2020 some of the threaded rod adaptors i use for heim joints, https://www.grainger.com/product/1CWD7?gclid=Cj0KCQjw3qzzBRDnARIsAECmryrxju2YRNSxm8JsQLOQQByJv5lXEj1mKeKCGgkiiKHX8B4vNHdK3gkaAnTGEALw_wcB&cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA&ef_id=Cj0KCQjw3qzzBRDnARIsAECmryrxju2YRNSxm8JsQLOQQByJv5lXEj1mKeKCGgkiiKHX8B4vNHdK3gkaAnTGEALw_wcB:G:s&s_kwcid=AL!2966!3!50916758277!!!g!82128323997!?cm_mmc=PPC:+Google+PLA?campaignid=175663197 , let me use , male or female heim joints , eliminating the wear / problem area . local h/w store in the pull out small drawer section. pete
gt14rider 804 #7 Posted March 13, 2020 Pete ,heim joints are great, but all these parts lasted 54 yrs. New parts were made from scrap angle iron and now should last another 54yrs. I'm using heim joints on my gt14 drag link and tie rods
