Goldnboy 910 #1 Posted March 11, 2020 Spotted on a local Craigslist a GT1848 it appears to have been worked and the engine is absent. Every thing appears here but the (tire) and the belt guard. Are these similar to the 400 series? I plan to meet the guy on the weekend he will take a $100. I have a good K301S I would drop in and many C-series parts on hand. Anything in particular to check since I can't test the hydro? 3
Achto 27,502 #2 Posted March 11, 2020 Price doesn't seem too bad. If there is too much wrong you should be able to at least part it out to get your money back.

Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #6 Posted March 11, 2020 Hopefully the hydro works! I believe the GT-1800/1848 came with higher gearing in the transaxle that gave the tractor more ground speed
Guest 88vic #7 Posted March 11, 2020 I'd love to add a Workhorse to my fleet. One day !!!
ZXT 2,401 #8 Posted March 11, 2020 Buy both of them! The 753 is definitely cool.
RandyLittrell 3,877 #9 Posted March 12, 2020 If you buy that, but don't want it too bad, I have a 701 suburban I would do some trading for??? Randy
oliver2-44 9,679 #10 Posted March 12, 2020 Buy them both and you will have three tractors and can honestly tell your wife you only made two purchases! That 753 round hood would be great trading material for the right price.
Stepney 2,325 #11 Posted March 14, 2020 If you can get it up and running, you will love it. I too saved my 1848 for $100 off of Facebook. Actually was claimed to be a good runner .. had serious issues with the original engine. Rattled every bolt on it loose long enough to wallow out holes.. Repowered with a K321 and couldn't be happier with it. Kind of a unique hybrid. Dash is WorkHorse is specific to them .. for what all that matters. The 1848's had the taller rear gearing and wide wheels of the 520h. As such, a 42"sd deck can not be used on one without changing the rear wheels. An RD, however, works fine. With a wide axle up front, you'd basically have a 520h .. sans the wiring. 3
c-series don 8,663 #12 Posted March 14, 2020 I bought mine brand new in 1984. Cut grass commercially for 6 years, plowed all kinds of snow, rototilled many gardens. I wish I knew how many hours are on that tractor. I’m guessing around 2000. Really all I ever did with it was change the oil A LOT. I gave it a much deserved restoration two years ago. Hope you like it!! 1
