VenetianWheelHorse 19 #1 Posted March 8, 2020 Recently purchased a C-125 (01-12K8-91, series 196542). It appears to be a 1980 model although it has a K341 installed on it. Gone onto the Toro website to get the part number for the transmission belt (i.e. engine pulley to transmission pulley). 1) Found that the belt number is given as either 7478 or 106496 for the 1980 model. Which one is correct? 2) Also discovered that for the 1981 to 1984 models the belt number is given as 7473. On the internet it appears that stores selling the 7478 don't sell the 7473, and viceversa those selling the 7473 don't sell the 7478. Hence ended up scratching my head and wondering what is going on. Is the 7478 for 1980 a misprint and it should be 7473, or is 7478 the correct belt? If so, should I purchase the 7478 or the 106496? Can anybody with more knowledge than me shed some light on this riddle? Thanks! P.S. By the way, this specific C125 has a K341 engine rather than a K301. Does this impact upon the length of the transmission belt due to e.g. different positioning of the engine pulley?
ebinmaine 67,266 #2 Posted March 8, 2020 Given the engine swap it would be a great idea to hand measure the existing belt.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,032 #3 Posted March 8, 2020 8-Speed models and hydro automatic transmission models usually use different belts. Some parts lists online are shared between models but fail to identify what fits what. Looks like you have an 8-speed model probably made in Belgium. Click on the picture for more info and the belt. The engine change you have will not affect belt length. Garry
VenetianWheelHorse 19 #4 Posted March 8, 2020 Thanks to both Eric and Garry for the quick reply. Yes, you are absolutely right Eric! Your reply got my brain into functioning mode. Measuring the existing one would remove any doubts!

VenetianWheelHorse 19 #8 Posted March 10, 2020 "take that belt to a local tractor supply and match it up, pete" I wish we had TSC here in Italy, it would make life much easier and running costs much much lower!
