Oldskool 6,640 #1 Posted March 4, 2020 A few of you know I picked up the GT the other day. I'm hoping to bring it back to life. While doing repairs I hope i can do some upgrades. Hold onto your hats guys I will be asking a pile of tech questions. I will have pics posted later today when I get the paypal thing straightened out and I can become a supporting member 3 2

Oldskool 6,640 #4 Posted March 4, 2020 (edited) While I am waiting to post pics here is a bit of interesting historical info of the tractor. While messing with the engine I overlooked a decal several times. Finally noticed it wasn't a kohler decal at all. It was a decal from LATHROP'S Sharpening Service phone 743-2347 Danbury Conn. Oldskool 6,640 #9 Posted March 4, 2020 So the front tires are junk and so are the wheel bearings. So to make it a roller for now I need to do something for tires. No need to do something twice. So on the right is the stock rim and tire 18x6.50-8. The rim is 4.5" wide. On the left is one of a pair of tires just kicking around the shop. Its 18x9.5-8. The left rim is what it should fit on 7.75" wide. So between the 2 rim's I think I'm going to widen an original to 7" and run the AGs on front. Any input would be great.

I dont think I can go in any. I think it will hit the deck pulley with the axle at a tilt

I think it will hit the deck pulley with the axle at a tilt I'd believe that. I have the wrong rims on the front of Cinnamon. They work fine except they hit the plow frame at full turn. I have to be conscious of that while turning sharp.
WildmanC120 613 #13 Posted March 5, 2020 Nice pickup. I look forward to seeing you get it going. I regret getting rid of mine , especially since it came from a dealer only a few miles down the road.
Oldskool 6,640 #14 Posted March 5, 2020 That would have been cool to have one that was sold local. Can't keep them all though

ebinmaine 67,154 #16 Posted March 5, 2020 Just because you could toss a cat between the piston and cylinder wall????
Pullstart 62,721 #17 Posted March 6, 2020 Toss something soft in there... like an egg. Butter her up and hear it roar! All seriousness, I’d be looking for a donor too. It’s unfortunate that it was left outside so long being partially opened up.

The piston isn't connected to the crank anymore either
