:text-welcomewave: from not too far away!

other than bearings and seals being common items, everything in a Wheel Horse transmission case is proprietary.  If you figure out otherwise, please share as we’d all like to know!

Theoretically a positive traction differential in an RJ sounds like a good idea, then reality sets in. The front end of an RJ very lite and with a posi rear you would only be able to go in a straight line, turning would be virtually impossible.

:twocents-02cents:        If enhanced traction is your goal I would suggest liquid filled tires and wheel weights..

The tractor frames will need to be modified to attach anything other than the 3 piece transmission which is on there now. Wheel Horse did make a 2 piece 10 pinion trans with limited slip. Depending upon the condition of your RJs, maybe picking something else to modify would be a better option. If you do modify the RJs, do it as a bolt on so it can be changed back to original without cutting and welding which will save it's value as a collectable tractor.  Do you work these tractors? Or can you tell us why you need the limited slip?

I have a slew of antique garden tractors, one of them being a rj with a built predator 212 that my daughter is using in tractor pulls.  I would like to swap the rear end with a selectable posi lock.....

:text-imsorry: did we not mention we like :text-coolphotos:.... sounds like you are way beyond  what 'Fish is sayin. I don't think he is looking to change it back John... he's got a BFH.

You are gonna have to ditch the three piece RJ rear end for something more solid. The three piece as we know it will never hold up to pullling unless its in a kitty class. Perhaps ditching the three piece, don't scrap it please tho we need those parts, adding a reinforced late model F plate rear end to an RJ frame then bolting up a 8 pinon that is locked up??

This might have been better posted in the pullers section  Michigan dude but we'll try and help out.

One thing you could do to add a different transmission to an RJ or Suburban is add a front face plate to the transmission that would mesh the two pieces to the frame.

i bought two transmissions in West Virginia  in January of this year and one had a plate fabricated in front to fit a two piece Wheel Horse transmission to an RJ or Suburban frame.

Your clutch rod and hookup would have to be fabricated most likely to conform with the new transmission.

Wheel Horse does not make a "Selectable Posi Lock...and I have no idea how you could in-corporate one from a regular vehicle.  Wheel Horse did make a 10 pinion Limited Slip differential...Wheel Horse #5060, #5071, #5073 these are 8 speed manual transmissions.  Wheel Horse also put the 10 pinion Limited Slip differential in some of their hydro tractors...Wheel Horse #5062 that may work for you.

You can lock the trans by taking an 8 pinion Wheel Horse transmission and paring up the pinions in the differential.  They come with an A - B...A - B...A - B...A - B arrangement...change them to an A - A..B - B...A - A...B - B arrangement.  It will be hard to stir, but both wheels will turn at the same time.  :eusa-think:
