I found this sickle bar on a wheel horse but not for 310-8. I had to drill new holes but I finally got it to work even works vertical.

That looks like an old 7-1311/12?

Be careful .. as I understand, those are not meant to be run in the vertical position, they will starve for oil.

david, great pick up on that , pay attention to no vertical use advise as well as the lubrication  ,mandates , to keep it running smoothly , you might even look up john deere " corn cob grease " for multi angle drive systems , pete

Thanks Pete for the tip, I'll look into it. On a different note I picked up another sickle bar a few weeks ago at an auction for 75.00 I'll be restoring that this summer.

david,  thats neat, i have yet to see one anyware , maybe this spring at the colchester show ?  that old iron and steel , as you know does not exist today , but its inherent strength and never fail build mentality gives you a great opportunity . take the time to tweek any area that you can improve on , making it smoother and just enjoy its use , good luck , pete
