David Ullman 142 #1 Posted February 28, 2020 The muffler was rusted along the sides but the ends was solid. What I did was to find a fire extinguisher, cut one end off, drilled a hole then notch it for the inlet. It fit tight enough to where I had to tap the muffler in with a hammer, then welded it up. To me it is quieter then a stock muffler because of the thicker wall. 6

Achto 27,502 #4 Posted February 28, 2020 That's an awesome repair!! I love it when things can be repurposed. Maybe that's why my garage is filled with "I might need that some day treasures" 6 1

David Ullman 142 #6 Posted February 28, 2020 I wish I had taken pictures while I was doing it, but I wasn't sure it would work. 1
David Ullman 142 #7 Posted February 28, 2020 I also screwed up on the heat shield, I marked it up close to the muffler, welded the studs not realizing once they're welded the slots don't line up.

I’ve only got one machine with that style muffler and it’s not original. I can hardly notice any misalignment!
