Simple wiring up to test kohler generator

Guys

I am loosing it. Last summer I made up a simple eng switch ,with Battery then I for coil.then s for switch. 3 wires,. I have a simple cylinoid with eng post. We're dose my positive on cylinoid go and then to generator start side,. 

Help me please.

Little hard to follow.  is this a Starter/ Generator system?  They didn't come with solenoids.  To test you ground the field terminal to see if the voltage jumps up to 14.5 +/-

Sorry if miss understood. I am just rigging a simple wiring to get the kohler engine running, I just finish rebuilding this 10 hp with generator starter. I ve used a solenoid to work the ing on order to run on a switch. three wires, one Battery, S for switch.3 to the coil. my question is were do i hookup in this loop with solenoid? its just to test run on the bench is all.

I ve forgot how i did it last year.......

Use this diagram and omit the parts you don't need.
