oldlineman 1,487 #1 Posted February 24, 2020 Hi all, I know this subject has been beat to death around here but I am converting my 1989 414-8 to a electric fuel pump. I am planning to pick up feed from the switch at the acc. term. through a 3 amp fuse. Am I correct thinking that this terminal is hot when starting and running the engine? Also do any of our vendors supply a cover for the mechanical pump opening? Thanks for any an all replies. Keep Smiling! Bob
pfrederi 18,016 #2 Posted February 24, 2020 (edited) ACC only hot in run. But I wire mine there anyway. turn switch on listen to pump when sound changes float valve has closed turn to start and she fires right up i do not use "I" because i do not want to take any chance of reducing voltage to the coil while cranking. I tend to leave old pump in place or make a plate. Kohler #240282 Edited February 24, 2020 by pfrederi 1
oldlineman 1,487 #3 Posted February 24, 2020 My tr has a Mag engine no K series coil, do you think voltage loss would still be a possible problem connecting to I term?
Lee1977 6,880 #4 Posted February 24, 2020 I used the R terminal on my 1989 520-H as it is not used, and work the same as pfrederi ACC. I turn on the switch let the pump hit 3 or 4 times before turn to startthen pull up on the choke and it's running. I did at a toggle switch in the ground wire so I can turn the pump off and run the gas out of the carb. then I ran the pump ground back the negative battery post.

If you have a Magnum Engine you do not have an I terminal on your switch. Just wire it to ACC or "R".
skrusins 128 #7 Posted February 25, 2020 I have a 314H and installed a electric fuel pump under the seat it works just as good as a pusher with a off and on switch.
