Wheelhorse Wes 279 #1 Posted February 24, 2020 I just got a running 16hp Kohler engine today but I don’t need it so I’m going to be selling it. Problem is I have no idea what it’s worth? Need your guys input please
oliver2-44 9,929 #2 Posted February 24, 2020 @WheelhorseWes What crankshaft size and length does it have. I've seen some with short stubby or tapered cranks that went cheap. The ones with 3-1/2" long shafts are much more desirable Post the engine spec number if it's readable on the tag..
Mudrig150 301 #3 Posted February 24, 2020 Kohler K341S 71179, it's a service engine. Looks like a standard shaft, 1" OD and 2" to maybe 3.5" length. Correct me if I'm wrong.
richmondred01 2,270 #4 Posted February 26, 2020 K341 engines are sought after in my part of the country because the pullers want them. A good running (no knocks no smoke) complete, not recently rebuilt, with 1 1/8 x 3” crankshaft 12 fin Kohler will sell for 550-600. A 13 fin will sell for 100-150 more.
ZXT 2,401 #5 Posted February 26, 2020 I'd have to keep something like that! K series engines don't come up around here often, and especially not K341's. I'd keep the engine and find an engineless tractor to put it on!

So why is the 12 fin so much better than the 13. Does it have a thicker cylinder wall? Edited February 26, 2020 by The Tool Crib
