Welcome to the forum.

I know nothing about this system but there is a service manual on it.

Click on the picture for the possible tractor model numbers and the serial number which dates it.

Let us know what you figure out.

The first thing I would check is to see if your getting power to the pump. The key switch would be my guess at the problem if it stop all at once. I have had a Wheel Horse for 43 years and have replace quite a few key switches. I can't help you with the pump if it's the problem.

Just in case the problem is with the tractor this manual may help

If this is for the wrong year and model lets us know and will look for the correct one. They are different for others.

Hi, did you manage to solve the hydraulic pump problem?

Yesterday I've bought another Wheel Horse 270H and I'am now in the 'discovering and solving' phase. I can help you with the hydraulic pump if you still need assistance as mine is wide open right now.

Welcome to the Forum.

You'll fit right in with clear questions and lots of pictures!

On these 200's I'm just an interested bystander, but I hope someone will be able to clue you in.

I'd never seen that electric hydro pump before, I wonder what it's spec are--current needed as well as output volume, pressure, etc.--do you have any idea? Is there a manufacturer or other model/serial number?

Thanks!

To be honest, I have no idea about the specs. What I know is that 270H uses a different pump compared to 268H as I had them both.

Yesterday, I tested the pump and the electric motor didn't move at all. So I removed the whole system from the tractor, detached the electric motor from the pump and found out there was a lot of water and dirt inside it -> see in the above post pictures. The mower stood outside, not having a bonnet neither a cover and the water entered the pump and the motor via the 'vent bolt' which is placed on top of the pump. After cleaning the rusty dirt and greasing a bit the motor shaft, it worked like a dream... but still not happy with the cylinder movement so I've opened the pump too - water, pink liquid and foam. Now I am in the process of cleaning and replacing the oil in the pump.

There is no visible information on this pump or the cylinder regarding the manufacturer and the series.

This is the entire hydraulic system:

And this is the pump from 268-H which is very different compared to the 270 one. This looks more like an electro-hydraulic actuator connected directly to the deck lift linkage arm:

Here there are some pictures of an older 270H I've restored a couple of years ago

And the only picture I have taken to that hydraulic pump is this:

Thanks for all the pictures!

I can see that the unit on the 268 is, as you thought, an electric actuator (a motor-driven screw mechanism).

The 270 unit is a true hydraulic. I don't see a valve lever to change the flow direction, though, so I'm guessing there is an electric switch that changes the direction of the motor. Is that correct?

Exactly, it is changing the polarity via a 2-way non-latching switch in the dashboard.

And for those still interested in the subject, this is the end result:

Thank you for taking the time to make the video and post.

Interesting to see the differences between models.

Nice work saving these!
