JCM 9,130 #26 Posted February 23, 2020 @Digger 66 I just sold 2 sleds with a 1995 Triton Elite 101 Snowmobile trailer and used it for roughly 4 or 5 years until I added the Aluminum cover and that trailer was still in EXC condition when I sold it and got decent money for it. I did buy it new and would buy that brand again for sure. By the way, nice Black Chevy Truck. Recently I was installing E- Track inside my Cargo trailer and the fasteners that I bought with the E-Track looked like Aluminum self starting type screws and this trailer other than the axle is all aluminum. Anyway , about the Aluminum screws , I think you're right . The ones I pulled out of there ( 43 to be exact ) looked absolutely awful . They were factory I assume . Figured it was kind of the same thing your doing, aluminum frame etc. he says there is a bunch of info out on the web for redoing pontoons and he is using Advantech and stainless steel self tapping screws. Probably , but no slicker than my bedliner was . I thought about the sand but as the grains wear off , they take the Varthane with it and will leave tiny spots of the wood exposed ? I spent 31 years in the food processing industry and we used a lot of stainless fasteners on aluminum and I don't recall ever seeing any kind of reaction between the two. This equipment came in contact with all kinds of chemicals and and brine with no adverse effects. Stainless fasteners would be my first choice. Nice looking trailer and good luck with your project.
