Choke cable help

Recommended Posts

toroman04

Hi all, I picked-up a 72 (was told it was a 74) after doing some research on it, anyway I need some help on a picture/part # for the choke cable. I have a Charger 10 automatic with a Kohler K241-46636

Any help would be appreciated! I have never owned a Wheel Horse before so I am new to this! I traded a snowmobile trailer for it.... It did not run, but did come with extra parts like: carb, ign. switch, starter, coil, front rims and tires, rear fender and a weight box. No mower deck but does have a plow. I seem to think I got the better end of the deal!

Welcome aboard!

You should have a slide style cable.

You got a great deal.... But I'm not much for snowmobiles....:D

Get that Charger up and cooking and you'll have a great little plow rig!!

Your choke cable should run under the shroud that covers the flywheel. The spiral sheath of the cable will attach to a fixture on the front of the shroud and the cable itself will have a "Z" bendin the end of it attaching to the choke.

here are a few pictures, what's throwing me off is what you see here (dash pic) Looks like same as throttle cable .... but is it actually a pull/push as there is a spot there or just a screw missing.

Here is a 1972 Raider 10...yours should be the same.  You can see the choke handle in this picture.  Contact A-Z Tractors...one of our vendors in the vendor section.  He should be able to help with the choke cable and more.

Welcome to Red Square

Hydraulic transmission filter is likely a Napa 1410.

Well you have a busy schedule once you get your parts in hand.

toroman04, in addition to your cable mounting / routing , make sure that you , hang and oil drip that cable , before use, ensuring its smooth function. another thing is to add more cable clamps to its routing tracking , that will insure its solid movement for use. just because clamps were not there , does not mean that you cannot add more for , smooth movement , pete

toroman04, see that you are going to change that trans fluid, good idea to cut off the shift boot with a razor blade and replace it , usually the cause of water getting in the trans. when you replace the boot  lubricate the shifter shaft with grease for ease of installation. pete
