Snow blower vibration

Recommended Posts

vanillaman

I have a 516H tractor with a 96-42st01 snow blower. The blower was in sad shape when I bought it. I have replaced all sprockets and bearings except for the auger bearings. Everything was working fine until I adjusted the drive chain. I have about a1/2 inch play in the chain between the 2 idler sprockets. Since then I feel a very noticeable vibration. Would auger bearings cause this? Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to fix it? Any advise would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Turn the auger and check the play multiple times.  The sprockets may have run out or the chain can be worn unevenly causing a tight and then loose condition.  A bad auger bearing can cause run out or the auger may be bent.
