Nothing seems to last as long as the old stuff - I have an early 70s Wards freezer on my enclosed back porch that has sat in the same place in service since new. Still works excellent (knock on wood)! My grandfather had an 80s Wards freezer that sat on his open back porch - from around 83 if he remembers correctly. The door seal had deteriorated to the point that it wouldn't hold the cold in, in the Texas heat, and the replacement seal was NLA. He replaced it about two years ago. Last month, the replacement got replaced! Only lasted two years. Not sure of the brand, but he won't be buying from them again!
D_Mac 8,593 #28 Posted February 14, 2020 I try to avoid the electric ones. They can get pricey when you are trying to convert coolent and compressors. I have a hard time selling any of them but its a labor of love for me. Most of the ones I do wind up selling are to people who have camps or cottages with no electric and use them how they were ment to be used..... with a big block of ice!! 23 hours ago, WHX24 said: That is just down right awesome for us that are into old crap @D_Mac ..... ever do one with the old skool finned compressor on top?
