pfrederi 17,876 #1 Posted February 10, 2020 Trying to gt the Hydrogear in my GT14 fixed up. Like so many Hydrogears the acceleration valve springs were toast. I had looked in the Sunstrand manual and the two springs (inner and outer) are listed as 7052 (inner small) and 7264 (Outer large). (same listing in Charger and Electro tractor parts manuals) Neither one are available from Toro. Lowell listed repros but found the small inner one didn't come out right. He is reworking them. Wanted to get the tranny back together and was looking at the GT-14 parts manual. It listed the same big spring part number but the smaller inner spring is listed as 9215 which is still available... for over $30 each. Bit the bullet and ordered them. Look to be correct. I do not have a whole complete spring from a Charger Electro available for comparison. Can any one measure one that is complete??? Since all the other parts of the acceleration valve are the same between a GT-14 and other hydro gears I do not see why these 9215 couldn't be used in Charger/Electro hydro gears. You can see in the picture the coil size and thickness is the same as the fragment I have from a Charger. The 103265 spring is from a piston to piston hydro. Anyone know why they used a different part number for the GT-14s???

pfrederi 17,876 #4 Posted February 11, 2020 Some interesting variances. The 9215 spring is 1.24 inches long vs the 7052 Dave measured 1.3125 The 9215 is slightly heavier wire .069 vs .0645 9215 is slightly bigger around .285 vs .265 Both seem to have 12 coils. Other interesting stuff. I measured some of the pieces I have from broken springs. They are slightly different diameter and wire thickness than either the above.... The 9215s are going in the GT-14 hopefully it will work out...
The Tuul Crib 7,337 #5 Posted February 11, 2020 Is it necessary to replace these springs if they appear visibly to be ok?
troutbum70 857 #7 Posted February 11, 2020 I would like to inspect mine on the electro 12. I assume there are some o-rings in there are they standard sizes? And do have any idea when Lowell is going to have replacements. Also those accelerations springs can they be inspected without disassembling the transmission? Is there any thing else I should be aware of before doing so?
pfrederi 17,876 #8 Posted February 12, 2020 O rings are standard see pinned post. in this section for sizes. Ask Lowell his large springs work. Yes you just unscrew the 1-1/4' hex head caps. That will get the outer part the springs and cone valve you have to pull with a magnet. The inner sleeve MAY pull out with a magnet but may require a home made puller shown in the manual. You really should read the hydro gear part of the manual.
