Chestnut 315 #1 Posted February 9, 2020 Hi all. I’ve been reading the forum for a while now but just joined. I’ve been putting together a list of questions as I’ve been reading but I’ll hold off on most of them and keep this post fairly short. I just bought a second 520H. My father in law bought the first one years ago. The only attachment on the one my father in law bought is the Kwik-Way loader. About 620 hours. The new one has the two stage snowblower, side discharge mower, and rototiller, and about 775 hours. I live in the seacoast area of New Hampshire and my mother in law is 125 miles away in Maine. She has someone plow the drive, but we need to clear access to some other areas of the house and yard. By the time I get there every couple of weeks the snow has dropped off the metal roof and is pretty well packed. The FEL takes quite a while to dig through it and I’m hoping the snowblower can chew it up. This year we’ve been short on snow, but if I can figure out how to post photos I can show what we were dealing with this time in 2017. Can anyone tell me whether the two fixtures I have in the third photo are for mounting dual wheels or something else? No photos of the new tractor yet.
Sparky-(Admin) 21,300 #2 Posted February 9, 2020 Those are dual wheel adapters but I don’t think they are for our Wheel Horses. Might be for a Gravely walk behind .
pfrederi 17,663 #3 Posted February 9, 2020 (edited) That much packed snow will be a challenge even for a 2 stage. Edited February 9, 2020 by pfrederi
12 hp Kohler 1,014 #4 Posted February 9, 2020 Nice 520! Those are dual wheel adapters for a gravely walk behind.
ebinmaine 67,266 #5 Posted February 9, 2020 Welcome to Redsquare from almost a neighbor. We're about 20 minutes east of Ossipee NH in South Hiram Maine. @JCM and @Stepney are fairly close as well. If the roof dropped snow doesn't get to a deep freeze you might be able to chew into it... Welcome aboard and keep asking questions!
Chestnut 315 #6 Posted February 9, 2020 Thanks for the info about the dual wheel adapters. They did have a Gravely walk behind but it's gone to a new home. I know the roof dropped snow will be a challenge. The snowblower is the 79361 two stage. I figure I'll have to go real slow to get into it. The worst will be if we get the snow/rain/freeze routine like this week.

Chestnut 315 #8 Posted February 12, 2020 The wet snow is the worst. I have a Simplicity (yeah I know, wrong forum) I bought from a neighbor who was moving away here at my house. Got out fairly early and it cleared my yard and the next door neighbor's really well. That evening I was passing another neighbor's house and her drive was a mess and her walk behind snowblower was as clogged with snow as I've ever seen one. I offered to bring the tractor up but she said she was OK. A little warmer and wet today so her drive is looking better. The 520-H's are near Augusta.
Pullstart 62,783 #9 Posted February 14, 2020 @Chestnut! I don’t have any experience with 520’s and little experience clearing snow with a Wheel Horse, but I enjoy cool pictures and story time! This is how I get rid of snow... and this is pretty much how we run our tractors
peter lena 8,580 #10 Posted February 14, 2020 welcome chestnut ! i think the metal sheeting on that roof is the cause of the roof flush snow fall , that is there . if it were me i would have a walk behind blower to regularly clear this out and get it away from the house. as we all know , once its down and freezes ,its a wall. blow that snow , as far as you can away to give you room for more, i have plowed a lot of snow , first thing is to get it as far away as you can , making room for more. not to make light of the issue, but if it keeps happening , YOU HAVE TO CHANGE WHAT THE RESPONSE IS TO THE SNOW. create a buffer zone around the house area, and maintain it . pete

Tractorhead 9,064 #13 Posted February 14, 2020 I think it depends on the width of the sidewalk..😂 1
Chestnut 315 #14 Posted February 15, 2020 I like the idea of the truck and plow but my mother in law keeps planting things either side of the walk. Got a chance to make the round trip today and try my luck. The storms this year seem to be following a snow/rain/freeze pattern so we had about three layers on the ground. It was about 16 degrees. The snowblower rode up over the frozen base where it was really solid but I think it'll handle it if I don't go all winter like I have so far. The ultimate solution is to move the oil tank and fill to the gable end of the house but in the meantime it needs to be clear enough for access. The two stage definitely tossed the snow far enough so I should be able to keep the path clear. The tractor also came with a mower deck, rototiller and another piece I hope someone else can identify. I've never made an implement change on a Wheel Horse so I may have questions later. The mule drive for the mower and intermediate pulley for the rototiller are in another box I didn't photograph.
ebinmaine 67,266 #15 Posted February 15, 2020 I'd say you and that rig done alright!! That lowest pic piece looks like a whatcheehoozitt to me someone else may be able to help you out with that.... @JCM check this out....
JCM 9,130 #16 Posted February 15, 2020 ? My 6' Disc Harrow for the Farmall Super A has a bracket like that to connect to the Drawbar, not really sure if that is part of an implement or what.

Chestnut 315 #18 Posted March 28, 2020 Finally looked at the label on the item in front of my feet in the last picture. The label's almost gone, but I was able to figure out it's some kind of fixture to grip and lift drums. I guess it wasn't ever part of the tractor at all, just something that got added into the parts and attachments bin. I guess if I ever tap those maples.......
WVHillbilly520H 10,373 #19 Posted March 28, 2020 (edited) That tiller looks like if it was ever used it wasn't but once or twice by the condition of the tines. Edited March 28, 2020 by WVHillbilly520H
Chestnut 315 #20 Posted March 29, 2020 I don't think the tiller was used much at all. I think the mower and the snowblower were used more, but not too much. The tractor isn't a beauty queen but there's less than 800 hours on the meter
