42" Plow Angle Rod

Recommended Posts

71_Bronco

Need a little help with my Wheel Horse plow. Have a 42" plow on my '68 Commando 8 that I'm using to plow my paved 75 foot level driveway.

Had to do a little work to the plow to make it usable. Had to fab a scraper edge and had to reinforce the bottom of the plow (someone didnt change the edge and the bottom of the plow itself got worn / chewed up). I also had to make new cross pins that connect the plow to the frame, and the springs to the plow. They were so rusty and worn.

Anyways, I plowed the driveway with the plow blade straight, because I'm missing the rod that connects the plow to the handle to adjust the angle.

I work in a metal fab shop, and can easily make one, but I at least need some kind of base to go off. The schematic doesnt really help much (no length, diameter, etc).

Could anybody help me out and post a couple detailed pics of how the rod mounts / looks, as well as some dimensions?

Plow model is 6-2133. It is a long-frame, and I'm currently using it with the rear cross bar in the front holes.

Also, not as important, but the link between my plow frame and lift block (the V thingy with holes in it that the lift handle arm connects to) is a little messed up, like it was originally for something else and the previous owner modified it to make it work. It's a solid link (not a chain) so I can put down-presure on the plow. If someone could post pics / dimensions of that as well, that would be great. The one I have works, but I'd like to make / buy the proper one.

Thanks!

the link

Trina and I both use a solid link as well.

If memory serves me correctly it's 11-1/4" total length with a pin center distance of about 10".

The material is 3/16 thick by 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" wide.

I'd use at least that. ..

It's 1/2 inch rod. To get the length, measure from the hole in the bottom of the index piece to the hole in the handle with the Blade straight and the handle plumb. It's just two 90 deg bends at the ends of the rod with holes near the tips to accept a pin to retain it. The end of the rod is bent up for the index part, horizontal at the handle facing away from the tractor

For the lift link, remove the existing link, support the plow blade in the raised position and have the lift handle locked in the raised position. Measure the length between the two holes which lift the plow. Make a 1/4" x 1" flat bar with 3/8" holes drilled at your measurement taken from the holes. You can weld in 3/8" bolts or just use bolts through the holes to connect it.

Nick I like John's suggested directions.

Our two tractors have the same parts but I had to fab brackets for the Cinnamon Horse because it just didn't set right...
