Checking sundstrand fluid level and operateing temp

Recommended Posts

My question revolves around operating temperature, after a little over half hour running the tractor up and down my hill my laser temp reader showed to be 130 degrees. Did not feel that warm to the touch. Also I will draining and refilling the transmission and new filter. Upon refill is the dipstick screwed back into trans to measure fluid level or should it just rest at the top of dipstick tube? Also I believe it was Ed that mentioned with his when climbing a hill it done better by feathering the motion control, I found that to be true with mine yesterday, if I pushed the control all the way forward it tended to bog the engine down more. I must say the traction I am seeing with the limited slip tranny is quite impressive

Okay pfrederi so on a hot summer day of 90 degrees under a good work load one might expect to reach that number? Ok I know on some of the old kohlers like my 181 oil is checked by letting stick rest at top of block tnx for info.

If your hydro is worn with internal leakage it may go higher that is a sign it has issues.  kohler is the only thing that I know reads dipstick unscrewed
