W/H 857 Deck/Engine Pulley

I have a 857 with the RM115 rear discharge deck.  Looking for the pulley affair that connects the deck and engine....looks like a double pulley that connects to the frame somehow.  There’s a single belt coming off the deck and another single pulley that seems to be a tensioner to activate the blades.  I think what I’m missing is a double pulley apparatus that connects the engine and deck belts.  Any heip on what I need or where I could get it would be appreciated....the parts drawings leave me bewildered.  Thx

This is the best pic I have...I know kind of fuzzy!  Others will be along to welcome you and offer advice. I think Mike @prondzy  mows with a 857 0r 867 so he may have some better pics. The parts should be easy to find as they are common to most mid sixties short frames. I know I have at least two of these setups.

Paul...thx all for the quick response.  The bottom pulley affair is what I’m missing....the only difference I see is you have double belts coming from the deck and mine is a single.  I guess yours is a triple pulley and I would need a double.  I see you’re in NE Pa as am I....any idea of where I could get what I need?

Are you sure you have a RM-115 or how do you know it is a RM-115? Click on the picture.

The 1967 decks for the model 857 were RM-327 and RM-367

There’s a metal tag on the deck that says it’s a RM115.  It wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the wrong deck and that would explain the issues I’m having with the hookup to my 857.  I’m not the brightest star in the sky but normally I can figure things out!  I used the 857 with chains to plow my garden for years with a single bottom plow but recently got out of gardening and decided to install the mowing deck....thus the deck installation problems.

RM115 was a 32" deck used on Lawn Rangers.  Different pulley set up and hook up to tractor.  Only 1 belt direct Engine to deck.  Would take some effort to get it to work on an 857.

I believed you’ve solved my dilemma....wrong deck for my mower....now the only problem is determining what I would need to possibly adapt the RM115 to the 857?

The 115 bolts directly to the tractor frame.  You would have to remove the tachmatic plates. I will have to measure my L107 frame mounting holes to see if the are in the same location as an 857.  You would also need the wire guides on teh engine pulley so teh belt would disengage.  But after some thought I guess you could do it.

I think I would go to the classifieds and see if anyone would like to trade you decks.  A RM-327 is the right deck.  R=rear M=mower 32=32" they also make a 36" 7=year...so a RM366, RM324, RM367 will all fit.  These decks are a dime a dozen, and sometime free.

That's why I sked Mike to chime in Steve ...I pretty sure the deck I gave him was a RM-327 which I know I will never use so might as well get it to someone who will. 

I may have another one but not sure was model it is would have to dig it out and see what it is and if it fits a '67. Might have been for a 54 or 55 not even sure what tractor I got that it came with!

The four arms on your 115 deck bolt directly to the tractor frame.  The holes circled in yellow are 9-1/2" on center the front one below the engine crankshaft.  My short frame tractors are in winter sleep.  so I cannot measure to see if they have the same holes as a Lawn ranger. but I would guess they do or you could drill a couple.  Does your deck have a couple springs and a belt shield on it?  Also you will need a wire guide at the enginen drive pulley to keep the belt in place. WH # 4930  It is similar to the ones in my picture but back over the pulley (I haven't had my deck mount d in years.  The guides on mine were for a snow thrower.

I do have the two springs and shield on the deck near the belt pulley.  The deck frame holes are partially hidden by the tachmatic plate so I need to do some disassembly to get measurements.  You guys all seem to know how to send pics but I haven’t figured that out yet...old dog, new tricks, etc.  The RM-115 deck I have looks all original and 30+ years old....not pristine by any means.....four attachment arms and one lift arm.

I’ve got a lull in the Spring “get them ready” storm here and still looking for a RM-327 deck to fit my 857.  I also have the RM-115 deck I’ll never use so maybe a swap is in order.  Live in East central Pa.

I'm about 2 hours SW of you.        I don't have numbers, but maybe Pau, Steve,l or Garry can confirm if these would work on your 857.      Trade??

Hey guys.....been quite a while since I posted so I thought I’d update everyone.  The 857 Wheelhorse mower has moved on to greener pastures but the RM115 deck remains with no particular use to me.  I would like to see it go to a good home and maybe actually be used by somebody.  The cost is free and I’m located in Lehighton, Pa...northeast Pa.....about 28 miles north of Allentown, Pa.  I travel a bit chasing mowers and other small engine equipment in need of resurrection so meeting nearby is a possibility.  Any interest, let me know.
