Mr Magoo 226 #1 Posted February 4, 2020 So I see people refer to either short frame or long frames. What models are which?
ebinmaine 67,266 #2 Posted February 4, 2020 That can get a little confusing to some. I'm not sure about the models that were built before 1964. 1964 to 1966 all short frames 1967 if you have an 8 horse it was short, 12-horse it was long. 1968 to 1973 I think followed a similar formula 1974 and 1975. If you're not confused enough. B series was a mid length-frame. Yes you read that right. C-series was a long frame. 1976 and up as far as I know everything was a long frame...... ?? Others will be along to elaborate on the placees where my knowledge Lacks. 3
Stepney 2,325 #3 Posted February 4, 2020 Some more stragglers to consider are the GT14, 1054/953. I think '66 was the first year for the long frame. My 1076 is one of them. Pretty sure the end of the short frames was the Commando 800, around 1972?

Then there were special builds, use up builds, A (and B?) series vertical shafts and some that just don’t fit the bill of the mold...

Lee1977 6,642 #7 Posted February 4, 2020 Kohler standard size the engine dimentions of 10, 12, 14 and 16 HP engines in 1959. Any tractor with 10 through 16 HP will be a long frame unless it's been modified by an owner. A good percentiage of Redsquare Members are Modifiders. 1 1
AHS 1,439 #8 Posted February 5, 2020 I think the ones toro made (87? -07?) were short frames.
953 nut 55,065 #9 Posted February 5, 2020 @ebinmaine nailed it for the majority of the line. As is fellow Maineiac @Stepney pointed out there are a few models that don't conform though
